Humility may be the hardest of the virtues to acquire and keep because it cuts so much against the culture, and there are so many excused that can be made as to why "now isn't the time" or "well this over here isn't so bad." However, humility is also the most rewarding virtue to cultivate, first, for its own sake because nothing draws us close to God quite like humility. Second, for the sake of others because humility makes us better able to interact with others. Third, pride is the root of all sin, therefore the cultivation of humility is the best way to annihilate all sin.God will save the sinner you are, but God will not save the Saint you pretend to be, humility cuts away the games we play and makes us honest. If for no other reason, it is one of the greatest of God's gifts.
