It's no secret that I'm a proponent of homeschooling. Some of my reasons for that come from studying the philosophy and history behind the Prussian model of education (which is employed today by public schools).

Some of it is from my own experience of going to schools and seeing first hand that until I got to the university level, school was not a place of education. It was only a place of indoctrination. And that any actual learning or self growth I did was entirely by my own work and study outside of school, because inside the halls of school I basically spent the whole time trying to understand what I had done wrong, and why things didn't work out for me like they seemed to for other people.

But some of my reasons are strictly practical. For example, the statement in the quote here. Public education does not and is not intended to prepare you for life in the real world, and certainly not for success at life in the real world. It's only function is to turn you into a drone for the establishment (which is most effective if it can simultaneously make you believe that you are oppressed in the process, apparently). And because public education doesn't equip us to deal with the real world, we ironically believe we are not equipped to raise and educate our own children. But here's the thing, that very belief proves that public education isn't equipped to raise or educate our children, so don't subject them to it. Instead, give them a better life, give them the tools we wish we had had!
