“We can’t tell anyone.” Jeno said quietly.
You tightened your grip on him. “I know.”
He sighed, hugging you tighter in return. “I wish we could. But who knows how the managers will react? What will Taeyong say? He’ll probably have my head.”
Jeno nuzzled his face in your hair, trying to calm himself down.
“Well, at least I like you back.” You offered weakly.
He chuckled. “That’s true.”
“We’ll keep it a secret for a long as we can.” You pulled away, blinking at him tiredly.
Your heart already felt heavy, the idea of having to tiptoe around everyone, lie and not be able to treat Jeno specially made you feel so downcast. But what could you do? A rookie in SM, your future unsure before you, you couldn’t really take many risks, even though it broke your heart.
Jeno rubbed your back, sensing your inner turmoil.
“Should I talk to one of my hyungs?” He asked.
“Only if you really want,” You sighed. “I just don’t want anyone who could hurt us getting wind of this.”
He frowned, sighing to himself and hugging you back against him. “Well, at least I still have you.”
You smiled, nuzzling your head into his shoulder. “That’s true.”
The door suddenly opened, Hansol calling out as he walked into the practice room, “Yo guys, we shou–” He abruptly broke off as you pushed yourself away from Jeno.
Jaw ajar, he stammered, “A-am I interrupting something?”
“Oppa, I need you to keep this a secret.” You hurried over, panic washing over you. “Like, I really need you to.”
The older man looked at you, then Jeno standing awkwardly, then at you again. “What—are you two..?”
“Kinda, maybe, sorta-”
“Yeah.” Jeno interrupted your stammering to wrap an arm around your waist.
You blinked at him, bewildered at how upfront he was.
“We weren’t going to tell anyone until we figured it was safe and wouldn’t get hell for it, but you happened to walk in.” Jeno continued.
Taeyong strode in, his eyes darting over you and Jeno. Pausing, you could practically see everything click into place. He ran his fingers through his hair, exhaling heavily.
“I’ll talk to the managers.” He said.
Your jaw dropped. “Wha-really?!”
“Yeah.”
You tore free from your boyfriend to hug Taeyong tightly. “Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you–”
Taeyong laughed, hugging you back. “I just don’t want you two tiptoeing around. It’s miserable.”
Something in the way he said that made you pull away. Sadness danced in his eyes, before he shook it off. Reaching over, he ruffled Jeno’s hair.
“Hey! Hyung…” Jeno complained, reaching up and fixing it.
Hansol had quietly slipped out, a smile on his face. You wiggled back to Jeno, wrapping your arms around his middle.
Taeyong dug out his phone from his back pocket, and you watched as he dialed the main manager’s number. He set it on speakers, and you stayed quiet as it rang. The conversation that followed was somewhat tense, but had a good ending.
You broke away from Jeno, bouncing around excitedly as the manager agreed to the relationship.
“Well, now you don’t need to keep any more secrets, mm?” Taeyong watched you contentedly as you grinned so widely your cheeks hurt.
“I’m so happy!” You exclaimed.
Jeno had been completely silent to this point. That was, until he grabbed you, tugged you close and kissed you square on the lips. You quietly squeaked in surprise.
When he pulled away, he cast Taeyong a look that you couldn’t quite read.
“What? What?” You asked, a little dazed.
“Nothing,” Jeno smiled at you sweetly. “Dibs on the sleepover at the dream dorms tonight, ‘kay?”
“Okay!” You nodded.
Taeyong cleared his throat. “Anyway, Y/n, I originally came in to ask you how the dance practice was going…”
