Description Why is Tails so happy? Well maybe it could be that I'm slowly drawing more Sonic artwork again and getting back to my "roots" on Deviantart. Tomorrow night (7/13) I'll be uploading the "Draw this Again" meme to my page but if you want a sneak peak of that you should follow my Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr! Also there will be a speedpaint of this being uploaded sometime tonight or tomorrow!!! Tell me what you think in the comments!!! Thank you and goodnight!

So I'm cruising through the critiques corner to check if there's anything worth analyzing through, and I figure, oohhh, this drawing looks pretty nice, so I give it a look. Here are my overall thoughts.

It's a nice expression, I myself enjoy drawing facial expressions when it comes to my sketching sessions. There's interesting use of line weight implemented as well, but I feel like it could be played with better. For instance, things that pop out more, or things that are in front of the viewer would have thicker lines, and things further away from the viewer would have thinner lines. This helps create depth. The shading here isn't entirely convincing me either. The light source it looks like it's coming from the right of this composition (Tails' left) so light should cover more of the area around Tails' left side of the face, and should dissipate to the shadows from there. That and the overall glossy feeling is a little distracting.

Other than that, as I said, nice effort with the line weights. I'd play around with that a bit more. Also try studying the forms of shadows more. It can be as simple as putting a white spear under a desk lamp.

To be honest, I'm really impressed by this work of classic tails. It seems to be simply made but well detailed, colored, shaded, and proportioned ok now for my ratings:
Visions: 5 stars. Face it, its the character is well designed and acknowledgeable to people coming in to see.
Originality: 5 Stars. It works. Tails is a highly underrated and underused character in Fan Art compared to Sonic, Knuckles and Shadow. Glad to see something new for a change.
Technique: 5 Stars. The artist put a lot of detail and time to drawing and coloring the picture adding added depth
Impact: 5 stars Face it, its an awesome, rare, Fan Art of Tails.

This is one of your latest deviations so i,m assuming you are very proud of it, and you should be.

But I Want to talk about the shading for a moment here.

If you are going for a lighter surrounding you shouldn`t use black as your primary shading color.

It`s too dark of a color to use in a bright surrounding, plus it seems a bit everywhere and not coming from the light source which assuming its coming from the top right corner.

But over all your improvement is noticeable and I want you to keep practicing.

Work hard Zach!
