Description
On a summer midnight I slept so soundlyI awoke to the sound of the night chanting.
Peering out my windowsill I gazed upon
several faces. Each bearing little resemblance,
or none at all.
Despite their odd characteristics they
all carried a common goal, to summon
the creatures of the night.
Gathered round in a circle, each took
turns with a dagger, stabbing something mortal.
The convocation stepped back to reveal a woman.
She was laying face down with her blood leaking
over the wet ground.
What madness be this? A cult of some sort?
Surely Hell's angels are satisfied.
Enough was enough, someone had to save
her poor soul from a terrible fate.
I fetched my rifle in seconds, but
as I tried to fire the rifle, Hell
had awaken.
The damned souls of the underworld
rose from the ground. Her poor grace was
swept from this world of mystery.
Hell's pride did not thank their wake-up call.
Their ritual had become a feeding frenzy.
