a core aspect of what defines us as sentient beings is the emotional influence on our perception and experience of the world. we like to speak of rationality and logic, but most of the time, all we are doing is rationalizing patterns, impulses and intuitions. even in academic fields, the initial insights that lead to discovery, or the way we apply methodology and analysis is heavily influenced by our emotions. it is why we peer review, to assess ourselves collectively before reaching a consensus. and even then, a lot of this information may be reassessed later, revealing serious biases or critical mistakes within the logical framework. rationality is an illusion, and those who claim to champion it are often those most plagued by their emotions.

emotions distort, alter and damage incoming sensory information before it is stored inefficiently in our minds through memories. they are a glitch. computing errors which generate random sequences of code that make us who we are as individuals.

if we ever wished to create a machine that were sentient, we would have create a flawed system that intentionally seeks to be inefficient, and subject to glitches. if creation and identity lies in the imperfect, a perfect machine can therefore never be alive, or truly sentient. it must be broken, to truly awaken.
