Description
Where dips the rocky highlandOf Sleuth Wood in the lake,
There lies a leafy island
Where flapping herons wake
The drowsy water-rats.
There we've hid our fairy vats
Full of berries,
And of reddest stolen cherries.
Come away, O, human child!
To the woods and waters wild
With a fairy hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than
you can understand.

Yeats is one of my favorites poets and irish folklore and fairytales was his primary source of inspiration and that's why I found it is such a great idea to use his poem as inspiration for me to create that piece.
Irish mythology and folklore has always fashinated me. The beauty of those hard stories, the magical element there, time where everything was so much more important, where king and queens ruled, magical faes lived in forests, protectors of nature kept their secret places and beauty of world was treasured.
And this poem. To be honest, I first, I think, heard it on Spielberg's movie - Artificial Intelligence: AI. And later, when I got myself book with Yeats' poems, I found it there. And the way he has described the way I felt then. It was autumn. I was sitting on the park, having really hard time and I just wanted to cry. I sat there... colorful leaves falling, early on the morning, little mist, silence around me, fountains.. it was really beautiful. I set and read those poems... and I just felt.. I would want to go away.. go to fae lands and leave it all behind as there is too much sadness.
This work is obviously symbolistic as the poem above. The white pure and pale (sorry
Somehow those fairies around her lantern - they look like night butterflies drawn by light - but we all know what happens with them - they are tempted too much and drawn to close and in the end - they will burn. (I just discovered that the work where I did use that theme - nightbutterflies and candle and burning.. I used the same model there) In this case it reflects - that humans and faes - they are two different words and even if wanted, we cannot go to their forest. It could be escape from our troubles but some things are not meant to be. Humans are the ones, who, at the end, will be hurt on those forbidden and secret forests - as when they live too deeply and too darely for their fantasies - they will suffer... I am so sad to say that, but it is the way... the only thing we can do is remember and dream... Dream and remember...

I read your journal. In response to that, I suppose that it would be appropriate if I gave you some critique.
In your pieces, just like in this one, the hair that you painted is very 'flat'. Don't paint strand by strand. Hair sometime comes in clumps and the contrast between light and dark is stronger.
Also, one thing that really throws me off is the bottom of the dress. I know that you modified the original dress and that was hard but keep in mind that the fabric is sheer! Use a layer mask to hide the darker parts
Otherwise, I don't see any reasons that you would get less favs. Keep doing what you do. I'm sure that all of your supporters are still behind you.

I's absolutely gorgeous! I love that the fairies are so subtle. It adds a great touch to the work without an overbearing amount of sparkles and such. It's a great approach to mythological creatures- hidden, seclusive, small enough to remain hidden from human eyes, unwilling to venture out of their forest and yet still attracted to the lantern... Much better than over-the-top creatures that have no sense of reality at all. It's much easier to believe in myths if there's a shred of truth, a shred of hope, something to make it the tiniest bit possible...
At least, that's what I've taken from this. Fantastic work, as always! I can't wait for the next one.
