cricket, sundew, swordtail and blue from wings of fire, specifically in the hive queen when the latter three had to be disguised as cricket's slaves in order to not get murdered. this was a piece intended to drive home how fucked up it is that one of our sympathetic protagonists for the third arc can legally own two of her co-protagonists and is socially obligated to murder the third, and the most that the books do to address this is... have her say she wouldn't mind being a decorative slave if she had a book to read. even the pamphlets about clearsight's prophecies being manipulated don't include the fact that, hey, even if a 2000 year old dragon says we should do it, owning slaves is bad. but don't worry, now the group of dragons that got genocided is actually to blame for their own genocide because they tried to mind control another nation's government.

this series sucks and the third arc sucks especially. idk how anyone can find cricket to be their fav character or even a sympathetic character at all.
