The flashing lights of the patrol cars below bounced off the surroundings as the Contessa was “escorted” into the back of her transport. A new set of tight bracelets Sly thought suited her just fine, keeping her much more docile then when he’d last seen her. Prague was a city he’d never forget, that was for sure. Not only had he been imprisoned for the first time, but he’d learned the strength of his friendship... and seen her safely through her peril, even if she never knew it. But that didn’t change the fact that for once they were both wanted by Interpol. The city was crawling with police and he knew there was only one thing he had to see to before his gang made off with the fruit of their toils. He kept low to the shingles moving up silently behind the figure on the edge of the roof. He reached a hand out to touch her but her left hand shot up quickly to halt him. Still wary of the thieves, he smirked.

“Don’t touch me.” She snapped, but not with her usual ferocity. The framed police woman, he didn’t need to see the look on her face to know the hurt that was buried in those brown eyes. For a woman who pushed herself so hard for justice, strove to keep the line between good and bad dark and strong, the strongest believer of ‘black and white’ he’d ever met... suddenly had her face shoved into a sea of gray.

“Hey, you can’t stay here unless you want to join our ‘hostess’ in cuffs.”

“I need to think.”

“You need to get out of here, and you need my help.”

There was a moment of silent hesitation. The racket of the law below them ringing off the architecture dully. When she finally turned to him it was with a guarded anger, but she took his offered hand regardless.
