A meme I thought was worth doing. Half of these could be considered things that influence my life as well as my art (most of them are NOT stylistic, more philosophical, I'm still figuring out what style I want to throw on my stuff, I don't think I'll ever settle on one thing. So I chose subjects and ideas instead of artists, with one exception.) but my art is my life so what the hell:

1. - Stories. This is the cover of a book by Robert McKee that I really enjoy and have recently read, but truly, stories have influenced my art since the beginning. I love stories, reading them, watching them, making them. It's captivating, and artwork with story to it (that doesn't necessarily mean comic or film - many of the old masters' paintings have lots of story) means much more to me.

2. - John Rise. Teacher at Savannah College of Art and Design (where I attend), this is a painted self-portrait (in progress) of him, he inspired me to slow down, make things right, and to always think about what I'm doing, and best of all, draw every day.

3. - The human form. It's beautiful.

4. - Manowar.

To a rainbow in the sky
Gold is at the end

All to be the Master of the Wind."

5. - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Be unbreakable.

6. - Fantasy in general, from Lord of the Rings to Conan the Barbarian, I've always enjoyed sword and sorcery a little bit more than anything else.

7. - Watchmen. My favorite book, a giant in the world of comics and graphic novels, and my doorway to complex stories and literature. I still discover new things when I read it again for the umpteenth time. It's also one of the greatest uses of color in a comic ever, and one of the reasons I have decided to be a sequential artist.
