Description
Collage thingy... With Sonic/Shadow fused like Veget (DBZ). I don't like almost anything about how it turned out, especially the hedgehog's FACE, there's something very peculiar about it that I spent over an hour trying to edit, but there's still something very wrong. X( I can't quite put my finger on it. And I needed help with inputting the "Bloom" effect on the image without altering the lightness of the colors, but no one helped.
So I submitted it with a just a small alteration.Tips needed!! I need help with lighting effects in Photoshop, because I'm still clueless. X(
The older picture of the hedgehog looked too much like Shadow, now he looks more like Sonic. Is there such thing as a compromise in blending their appearance? XD

You've to hate that. You work SOOO hard on a picture, then you can't help but think something's wrong with it! 
This, from my point of view, is a great picture though. You can do better than me at art programs, and that's what counts!

Sorry that I can't be of much help on the lighting since I rarely color my own works (that's because I so suck at coloring) so I kinda forgot the whole 'shading and hightlighting' thing (the tools I mean) to use it TT.TT; Gomen...
You might look through tutorials, though... they all may not apply to coloring Sonic art, but the tips can be helpful one way or another

The spines remind me of my own Sonic personage's spine-style from her 12th redesign. She was originally supposed to be Shadow's sibling creation (yes, lame recolour ftl~!), but her spines were similar to this fusion's one.
It's just me, but a more rounded bottom section of chest fur would probably lean towards Shadow and Sonic compromising, but I understand where you're coming from - fusing any two characters and making it look perfectly half and half in nigh impossible, but you've done a lovely job of it.
The spines complete the image muchly. I could see this happening in some long forgotten episode of Sonic X somewhere, hehe.

Anywho, the expression is the only thing that makes it look more like Sonic; but everything else looks great! Maybe a more neutral expression?

It is. Someone has already used it too. Go to newgrounds.com and search nazo unleashed. There are three animated movies and I think they fuse into Shadic in the second or third one. It's AWESOME.
