Lady Veralynn, formerly of the Dark Iron clan, made a pact with the eredar warlock Azreia. The dwarf pledged herself to the demon's service in exchange for help avenging her beloved niece, who was murdered by a scorned suitor. As they plotted together, the two developed an odd friendship, but when Veralynn broke their pact by refusing to steal War of the Ancients-era artifacts from the Explorer's League, Azreia vanished, taking with her a piece of Veralynn's soul.
In Outland, they reunited, and Veralynn, now a skilled warlock in her own right, succeeded in subjugating Azreia with the aid of several other sorcerers and some cleverly placed crystal grids. However, the eredar had her own plans. She'd used the fragment of Veralynn's soul to bind their fates together; Veralynn could never be slain by normal means, but as long as she lived, her mind would be tied to Azreia's, subject to terrible visions of the Legion's infinite horrors.
Veralynn's will remained as strong as ever. With Azreia as her begrudging servant, she hunted down the man who murdered her niece and confronted him. Though he escaped, Veralynn's magic crippled his left arm and scarred him terribly. He has not been seen since.
Veralynn is now somewhat content as an enchanter and collector of magical oddities. She uses her travels for reagents in part to search for her enemy, but is no longer preoccupied solely by vengeance.
As for Azreia, she is biding her time. Though numerous opportunities to escape have presented themselves, the demon claims to be looking for "a more dramatic exit." Meanwhile, she merely observes Azeroth's people and ponders.
