Hi there!~I decided to make a redesign of all my favourite couples from my favourite series! I picked as subject japanese inspired designs, but I may do different styles in future!
Character design has always been my favourite thing in life so I really wanted to try something like that for characters that I loveΒ π
LETβS START WITH LINK AND ZELDAπππΒ I unfortunately havenβt playΒ BotwΒ yet, but I really wanted to draw them with their last outfits!π

I was planning on doing Noctis/Luna or Sora/Kairi next, what do you think?Β

I lobe the pseudo-medieval Europe vibe of LoZ but certainly wouldn't be opposed to a reboot like this.

The artwork is really good, I love the concept of the redesign.
As someone who studies pre-gunpowder arms and armor extensively, the "Master-Katana" looks really weird. First, the guard feels WAY too big for the blade itself (and while this is arguable true of the regular Master Sword if you are comparing it to real life swords, the MS' blade is chunky enough that it doesn't look awkward). More importantly though, it doesn't look Katana-like. Rather, it looks very much like a Kreigsmesser, which is a German style sword. And while I do think that is a better sword design all in all, a clearly Japanese design with a German sword (that I don't think is intentional) looks strange.
So, yeah, I'd probably redesign the hilt of the Master Sword to include a Tsuba rather than quillons.
I don't want to sound like I'm ragging on your artwork. I don't intend to. It really is good. It's just that one thing that seems off.

I absolutely love this! The Japanese influence on the designs is sheer perfection for their BOTW outfits since the game has a lot of nods to ancient Japanese culture, art, architecture, clothing, etc. I'd love to see you do more characters from Zelda, perhaps some of the sages from Ocarina of Time or A Link Between Worlds!

Awesome work! I love the slightly more "desert" or Eastern style of the garb. At least that's what I take away from it! It suits them well in this picture. (I've always found the Gerudo pretty interesting too so that kinda ties in lol)

Something about Link brings to mind the Blue Sky Knights serving under the command of Altmile, in the Cardfight Vanguard lore. It's a really cool concept.
