Description
Yay for hand drawn!! So this is the "C" variant of my favorite original aircraft. This has some progression in terms of markings and camo! I went with USAF's Southeast Asia camo from the 1960's-70's just because it looks the best. And now everyone gets to know what the Mauler looks like from the front, and I'm probably going to include a top view in the next one. Anywho... on to the back-stories I so painstakingly come up with and then no one reads._________________________________________________
The A-52C was given the nickname "Super Mauler" by several of the flight crews thanks to several new improvements. The ejection seats are a new updated Martin Baker Mk 43 Ejection seats with a new, larger, oxygen tank to better increase crew survival in the case of an ejection in orbit. The rudder was made 4 inches taller and given a much pointier tip to increase in-atmosphere performance. The McNally ORTI 876-j engines are virtually the same as the OI 875-g engines in the B model, but with the addition of a slight increase in power output and lower fuel consumption. The new engines also have the ability to use internal thrust reversers to redirect thrust out the engine intake, shorting the Mauler's lengthy landing roll. Another new engine feature is the Second Stage Ion Accelerator, which sped the exhaust ions through a magnet ring that accelerates them in addition to adding raw fuel, making it similar to today's jet afterburners. A new data link system that interfaces directly into soldiers helmet-cams was added and is characterized by the antenna sticking out of the aircraft's tail. This new system allowed a much better idea of enemy and friendly positions and led to fewer "blue on blue" friendly fire incidents. This aircraft belongs to "Razor 4" 2nd Lt. S. Watson and SrA (Senior Airman) D. Epstein of VF-43 "Devilspawns" but still has the Skull And Crossbones or her old squadron VF-56 "Pirats".
