Description There in the local garden growing,
Old flowers climb the vine,
Subtly imbued with scent
With magnificent perfume.

Yes, with the coming of spring
Miscreants may deface the roses
New flowers adjacent are safe
They will not touch the new life

All blooms embrace a surfeit of life
Vested in mantels of sacred petals
If I may be a slave to these
Let new flowers fill my eyes

We may drink a decanter of air,
So fair and precious the scent,
Now to see no farther than today
Now to see a door that opens into the future.
