Splendid work! The feathers on the back of the head and around the eyes are particularly impressive. Do you mold each feather seperate from the body, then apply them down in a row?

so much detail, and such a cute sculpture! <3
AND IT HAS FOLLOW ME GLASS EYES! 8D
tell me, how large is this sculpture, and can you just buy glass eyes and paint them? are the eyes round like marbles, or just half-hemispheres?
sorry for the questions, i just really like your technique here; it seems to have had flawless results.

IllusionTree In reply to SnowHowl [2011-04-21 18:22:31 +0000 UTC]
Thank you
This sculpture is less than 4 inches tall. The eyes are half-hemispheres. The trick is you need to cover the edges with clay so that it looks like its following you. These glass eyes I just bought as they are on the internet. It would be nice if I found ones you can paint. Let me know if you ever find some.

of course!
and aw, so they are hemispheres. and it's the edges that make the illusion, eh? right, right... never woulda thought of that.
lucky for you, i actually was curious enough to go look for a tutorial for you. this person makes suits, but i feel like if you find the right-sized paint tray to use and continue using black clay and paint instead of fabric at the end, it would give the same effect:

can't tell if it'll help, but i hope that it will.
