aaawww , i would've loved to buy one. How much would they we be?

IMNIUM In reply to Legendary41 [2011-01-21 07:55:07 +0000 UTC]

As soon as i find a way to export i'll let you all know
They start at about 50$ and go up to several hundred $, depending on materials used and amount of time spent making it.
This one would be about 450 and this one [link] is 43$

Legendary41 In reply to IMNIUM [2011-01-21 08:21:11 +0000 UTC]

wow real nice. How much would the heart be? That's the one I'm very interested in. I'm sure you make real great business with your works huh? Truly awesome

I wish I could do some myself, but I don't know where or how to get the metals and tools to do such things.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IMNIUM In reply to Legendary41 [2011-01-26 11:39:10 +0000 UTC]

If you are asking about this pendant it is 450$
But there will be others in various price ranges
Well i actually couldn't live only from jewelry. I earn maybe 2$ per hour on each sold item and that's not enough so i have a full time job.
You can start out with various crafting wires. They are cheap and you can buy them anywhere. And you don't need any fancy tools to make this. I used 2 standard pliers, 2 metal files and nail clippers All together worth about 20$ or less. It can be done, you just need patience and time

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Legendary41 In reply to IMNIUM [2011-01-26 20:20:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I'd say that's a good price.
What?! That's a rip! You do great jewelry designs and you don't get at least half the profit?! man if you were over here you'd like already have your own jewelry store or company . There's no possibly of mailing huh?
haha that's cool. Don't you need like a torch, you know to help bend and sculpt the metal to the shape. I'm guessing at time the hard thing would be to keep the stones and such to stay in place while your joining some other parts. haha I'm sure I would have patients when doing some thing like that, since I do drawings that are at least idk maybe like 10 hrs or so.
But you're style and jewelry that you create are truly awesome, keep up the amazing work.

IMNIUM In reply to Legendary41 [2011-01-26 20:43:58 +0000 UTC]

Yup, that's all that's left after i take out the material cost and divide it with # of hours spent on it... not that spectacular
my country still has shitty laws that make things difficult and expensive. i can actually send out items but it costs at least 60$ for each item/small package (however cheap it might be) and i can't say 'shipping=60$' on etsy, people would think that i'm crazy or trying to rip them off and wouldn't buy anything. when i import silver or stones i have to pay additional 30%, then another 23% in taxes and 30$ of fees (i end up paying 190$ for 100$ of goodies). so we're screwed on both ends here hopefully this will change or i will move someplace else.
if you buy half soft or soft wire you don't need a torch, you can bend it with your fingers or pliers. if you need harder wire you can either buy it or work-harden the soft wire (by bending it back and forward, flattening it or tumbling it). The most forgiving type of wire for beginners is half hard copper 18ga for bases and soft 28ga wire for the wraps.
It is hard to keep the stones in place, that is the trickiest part, i use copper wire to temporarily fit them in the right place, weave around them and later remove the copper wire.
i think you would too. just start with smaller projects and don't get frustrated if you don't get it right immediately practice makes perfect i'd also like to see if you do make something someday
Thank you very much!

Legendary41 In reply to IMNIUM [2011-01-26 22:24:03 +0000 UTC]

Well where or in what do you sell your works in? cause wow that's totally unfair, all that working hours and the difficulties along with it, that's very messed up. What are the laws called?
wow even in mailing it cost so much?! And for nonsensical fee's and taxes.
Here it depends on the weight of the package if it's at or below 4 pounds and the type of mailing service you choose for international mailing, which it seems would be around $13.95 from where I am to croatia lol. Why not idk go out of where you're at and mail through some other post office you know? Maybe you might find a place nearby that isn't sooo pricy. And who knows maybe you'll get more out of it.
Really? Wires? haha cool that would make creating the forms. How do you like put the silver and gold metals on to the wire and make the etching designs?
Yeah, I would have patients for it, especially since I do work with things like clay lol making the shapes and whatnot.
I should make a drawing of what I should create lol.
Hope every thing does work out for you in the end .

It was supposed to be a crossover between primarily a mountain being torn/falling apart (as seen from the side view) and a stylized mechanical heart (front view)
