"And you're sure you're ok?" Sabrina asked for what felt like the thousandth time that morning.
Kia nodded simply. "Yes Sabrina. I promise I'm ok. I've rested after having the egg, and now I feel fine, if a little sore."
Sabrina mumbled something and rubbed the back of her head. She felt so awkward around her mother after...well...that. She knew she shouldn't, but it felt like...well...like she didn't even know her mother.
She still blamed herself partly for Kia's meltdown.
Even just talking to her felt odd.
"Sabrina?"
She was caught off guard by her mother drawing her attention. "Yea mom?"
"You looked like you were starring off into space. Something up?"
Sabrina felt color rise to her cheeks. Great, she needed to learn to be subtle.
Kia tilted her head to the side. "Are you still hung up on magic?"
Great! And escape!
"Uh, yea kinda." Sabrina looked away. "I mean... now that I think about it it wont work. Like, when I was a Wyngling, magnetize just happened. But now that I try to make it happen, it wont."
While what she said wasn't entirely a lie, it certainly wasn't the first thing on her mind.
"Sounds like you're too in your own head." Kia said simply.
"Too in my head?" Sabrina rained an eyebrow. "What does that mean?"
Kia stopped walking and placed her hand on her hip. "Its like breathing or walking, see?" She explained. "If you think too much about it, something natural suddenly feels forced and off putting. When you think about breathing, you suddenly dont breath naturally. If you start thinking about how you walk, it feels clunky and odd right?" She gestured to her feet, then Sabrina. "We are already build to know magic, that's why we have the magic glands. You gotta let your body do what it already knows how to do."
Sabrina stared at her a moment.
"Here, i'll show you." Kia said, lifting her hand. "See that trowel over there?" She said, pointing to the tool. "I'll bring it over by just letting my magic do what it does."
She then closed her eyes and held out her hand. Her magic glands began to spark and glow magenta, as the same force collected around her hand.
"And here....we..." Kia smiled, clutching the object as it flew into her palm. "Go."
"Whoa!" Sabrina turned in surprise. "It worked?!"
"See for yourself-" Kia opened her eyes, but stopped as she saw what was in her hand.
And it wasn't the trowel...
Traumer sighed as she heard Kia make frantic apologies and rush over to give her back her leg.
"Kia?"
"Y-yea mom?"
"This is the 5th time you've stolen my leg.... If you're going to use that magic, please don't do it around me anymore."
