Description
Three fishoids which inhabit the world of the Hexacrawlers during the time of the Artisans
Common Gulpshoaler: A fairly typical Fishoid that lives in large schools averaging between 35 and 45 cm long. These fish are large social filter feeders living in large schools of millions of individuals subsisting off plankton and breed prolificially constantly making and birthing large quantities of fry. They are a staple in coastal artisan communities.
Tropical Striped Shards: Shards are medium sized predatory fish with long thin bladelike bodies well optimized for short bursts of speed. They hunt in schools of a hundred or so individuals in shallows going after Gulpshoalers. They can get between 100 to 150cm in length. Tropical Striped Shards have, as the name implies, have a set of stripes. Grilled Shard steaks are considered a delicacy among fishing artisans and is kept for special occasions and as rewards for exceptional performance.
Balrog Deepslayer: Unlike the previously mentioned fishoids Deepslayers are a clade of predators which are more closely related to Trihogs than the descendants of the Hexacrawlers, which is visible in the number of their fins (three vs six, leaving aside the frontal canards) and the fact that their jaws are located well ahead of their "heads". They emerged as the dominant marine predators after the Great Impact extinction event, though have lost a lot of armor to gain in speed with the Balrog Deepslayer being the second largest species at up to 10 meters long. They have along their long narrow jaws behind fleshy lips a powerful bill that exert a massive bite force which can cut a Seastalker in two. Artisan fishermen are wary of Balrog Deepslayers as they have been known on occasion to reach out of the sea and snatch Porters and Artisans off boats.

Interesting fishoids! I really like the Balrog Deepslayer. The name sounds very fitting given its size and shape. Love its mouth too
