The Doll reached behind her back and pulled a plastic ring on a long string. "Good to see you again, Ian. As you can tell I've made some changes." Her mouth remained still and the voice was a bit tinny, but it was was clearly her voice.

"But how?" Ian said in shocked. "You're a..."

She'd quickly tugged her pull-string again "Doll? Yes. This place has a tendency of doing that to people and when I heard of it, well you know me!" Lily's tone was amused at this, as if making herself into a cloth golem was the same thing as buying a new set of clothes.

"I'd never expect that you'd go so far with it."

"Don't worry. This was the greatest thing that ever happened to me! No hunger, no sickness, no bad hair days," she brushed a fabric lock "just a nice quiet life in the dollhouse."

"Well, uh, that's nice. But why did you ask me to come here?"

"Well there is two reason for that. First of all, I'd like to apologize for the fight and vanishing." She lowered her head. "I, I said some hurtful things and I regret them and leaving you with that is difficult. In particular about those...private things. I never blabbed about them as I said i would have, but threatening to do so was wrong."

Ian was shocked. "Well, to be honest I felt the same way about my side of the exchange." This was true, though his salvos of insults in that fight were more common and general. "I forgive you."

"Thank you for that. The other part of this is an offer." She produced a gold key and held it in her mitten like hands. "The house usually does not let me do this, but here's a Key. Just use it to unlock the doors and you'll soon be out. You'll soon be home and you'll likely gain an infallible sense of direction or the ability to calm down dogs. The key itself is also worth a couple thousand dollars or so on ebay. Though you'll never be able to find this place again. But I've seen how things have gone for you and I've remembered those private things. Well, if you are really certain, there is a way of getting around your parents, the medical bills and all the choppy work and recovery. And possibly we can get back together."

Things went through his mind as he realized what she was proposing. "You mean?"

"Yes, I can turn you into a living Doll like me. Ian, what do you choose?"

His mind raced at the offer. He considered the prospects of it and what he'd leave behind. Ultimately however the fact that this opportunity was apparently the only chance he would have for it nudged him over. "Do it."
