Description
Northwest of the Allergonian Empire are the islands of (in descending order based on size) Dalmoros, Bilomros, Haimiros and Issros, collectively known as the Nalmros Islands. This island chain is fairly warm for it's latitude warm thanks to ocean currents, but receives more than its fair share of rain. The island of Haimiros has a higher than usual level of background magic and is home to one of a handful of High Elven enclaves beyond Ilvanas which serves as a naval base. Between 520 BIA and 430 BIA parts of these islands were held by Allergornian Empire. Beyond this the islands are divided into twenty three principalities and small kingdoms of humans and Dwarves.Technically these small states are united under the banner of the High King of Nalmros, who was elected to office at the High Moot by the twenty three ruling families. However the authority and influence of this king in most circumstances was severely limited, generally it is confined to the small capital city of Mootsteed and surrounding environs on the island Bilomros, it's small city regiment and the two or three ships of 'the royal fleet', the moot is free to vote out the High King most of the time and the ruling houses are free to feud and war with each other. The only time when this is not the case is when the Nalmros islands are attacked by an external power. Nalmros is considered to be a backwater by the continental powers, though not one as backwards as the pre-Infrastructural Coldlands. Matchlock Firearms had been in use by the peoples of Nalmros for about 160 years before the Infrastructural Age and some modernization has begun to crop up, though at a somewhat slowed pace.
This weapon is a Pepperbox cap and ball revolver, a revolver with multiple barrels (in this case four) rather than a cylinder for holding ammunition and a single barrel. These weapons predate the Infrastructural age, but were fairly uncommon items due to the difficulty of manufacturing these items in quantities. In Nalmros these weapons enjoyed a slightly above average popularity amongst the nobility and dwarvish communities. As foreign made revolvers began to be imported, the demand for these weapons increased as the nobility favored what they saw as a more tried and true formula. Flintlock and caplock mechanisms were adopted as well. Mostly these weapons are produced by Dwarves, though cottage gunsmiths also contribute to the output. As of 36 IA Nalmros has yet to receive much information on Infrastructural manufacturing technology and methods so these weapons are produced largely the same way they have before the Infrastructural Age. That said, the introduction of new technologies such as caplock and flintlock systems has shifted the ballence of power in Nalmros favor of a few states.
