Description
This Dicot plant has a two year life cycle. In it's first stage it stockpiles energy in a heavy tap root before which after winter allows it to quickly grow and flower to produce it's next generation. Said tap root is also nutritious, palatable and keeps well and as such it was domesticated. While a few plants are allowed to go to seed, most are harvested in their first year when their root has achieved maximum size. The biggest complication is the fact that said root has a hard outer shell which needs to be removed. Even so once it is removed it is well regarded either eaten cooked (generally allowed to caramelize) or raw. Said roots can also be used to provide purple dye for clothes.
