Description Various Assorted Minor Species (Economic Union explored Space)

Rejendar:

The story of the Rejendar is a tragedy and a mystery. The male Rejendar appear like bipedal, humanoid chameleons with their conical eyes, with small horns in the back of their heads, but with a chitinous, turquoise body armor covering their heads, arms, shoulders, and legs.  The female appear like the males minus the chitinous outgrowths. The Rejendar developed a culture based on trade and agriculture on their tropical planet, Canooska that orbited the star the Rejendar called Balookae in the Gemini Delta Cluster (NGC 2158). Their culture made trade an development easy within their society and and unification of their planet under a free trade system was carried out. However, there was war and sysytems of society that rose and fell, but in all the Rejendar developed a society much like early 21st century Earth.

The Rejendar’s world was a bustling world of development and culture until the castrophe happened. A plague called the “Sundering” appeared and travelled quickly through the Rejendar’s trade networks. The disease caused nerve damage and reduced the Rejendar into raging beasts much like in many of the zombie films of old from Earth. It was spread through not biting, but spitting, biting, and being scratched hard enough to draw blood. For males it was mostly spitting, because of their partially armored bodies.
A decade past and out of a population of two billion and a half, only one hundred and seventy-eight thousand were left in a few fortified cities and islands.

The Nebulans from the Economic Union arrived at this planet in the year 2289 and found the destitution amongst the few healthy of the masses. Unlike any in known history, the Nebulans helped the Rejendar move off of their diseased homeworld and helped them spread through their territory back at the Ceti constellation the Nebulans called home. The Nebulans through testing found out they were immune to the disease, but the disease was crossing many of the species barriers on the planet and the Nebulans reasoned that full sterilization was needed. So the EU, in absolute fear of the disease, annihilated planet Canooska. The Rejendar were quiet saddened by this, but saw the need.

At the moment there are many Rejendar colonies within EU space. They have been met with kindess and have in turn assimilated well within the EU’s society. One thing that does stand out is that the Rejendar have a very law-based society where written langauge is considered an art form. On EU Rejendar colonies, elaborately decorated stellas with rules of the community are left out in public areas.

Note: Some of the reasons why the Rejendar were left undetected for so long was:
* “South”(closer to the galactic rim) of Tau Ceti there are few stars with planets around them, or few planets but all are non-hospitable. A space probe that had been lost by EU scientists decades before, finally detected the Rejendar world.
* The Rejendar never used radio signals or otherwise to communicate. They developed a strange sonar pulse technology instead of radio, but could not travel into space.

Betans:
Another race from the Gemini Delta Cluster (NGC 2158), the Betans were not detected until 2290 around January(EARTH CALENDER) by the exploration ship G’enak’an when it entered the Geminius system (dubbed by UEF and Daggra officials to be the official GCC designation for the system).  The Betans lived on the fourth planet Betaius in the system.  The planet was four times larger than Earth and was covered in huge, craigy outcroppings and deep valleys. Life took two paths here. Life beginning in the great oceans in the immense valleys and life also indepently forming in craters and pools in the mountains. That explains the stark differences between things that live in the valleys and the ones from the highlands. The Betans evolved from creatures that were like the lanclets on Earth. They left the pools and evolved into various different niches along the jagged crags. The Betans evolved from one class that specialized in flight.

The modern Betan evolved from a species of flying creatures that had  pair of wings, primitive arm, and sturdy legs. They scavenged and fed upon berries and other small plants while trying to avoid being eaten by other members of their order and various invertebrate predators. They developed their sentence by working in groups and producing tools to protect themselves from predators and to get into husks of plants that were hard to penetrate. The result became the modern Betan-a 5’2” tall, purplish blue-skinned, mudskipper faced creature with a slender build and wings that still are functional, but for short times.

The Betans developed societies on the craggy mountain tops. They focused on trade and they early religions formed, worshipping the gods or life, death, order, chaos, time, and space. The Six were a hallmark in many early Betean religions. A Betan, named Baeres in the year 1245 AD, founded a relgion where the Six were mere aspects of something else: the Truth. Beares stated that all were aspects of the Truth-the entity that was the universe and held the universe together at the same time. Baeres’s ideas made him a heretic and he became an outcast with his followers, banished to the valleys that lay below and teamed with dangerous creatures. Luckily, Baeres found a suitable island location for a mission he built in the inland sea that this valley had. He sent his students to spread the faith and over a century his beliefs were picked up by others and spread. Within four hundred years about one-third the Betans on the planet were Baeresians.

The Betans flourished as technology and trade expanded their growth into space. Eventually, they would land and make colonies on the third planet from their star. Its atmosphere was the right temperature, but the gasses were harmful to the Betans. The Betans developed breathing apparati so they could colonize and harvest the mineral wealth of this planet. They developed better air/spacecraft technology and established contact with the second planet’s species-the Magooruns-Megans as the Betans called them.

The Megans were warlike and when the Betans tried to make peace with them, the crew and their ships were destroyed. The Megans were at the level of the United States in the year 1956. So they quickly worked hard on reverse engineering the Betan technology to see what secrets they could unlock. With the new technology, the Megans made within three years a forty-seven year jump in technology. The Megans eventually would take their politically fractured world and united into one fascist empire that invaded the third planet. The Betans were stunned in the surprise of the primitive Megans’ invasion. They destroyed seventy-eight percent of their forces, yet one major problem had occurred. The Megans took over Brenna, one of three major Betan space port colonies. The Megans threatened to kill every Betan in the colony if the Betans did not turn over the colony to them. The Betan Prime Minister decided to conceed that colony to them. However, this would lead this conflict to continue for the next sixty-four years and made the second planet become thirty-eight percent under Megan control.

The exploration ship, the G’enak’an arrived and made contact with the Betans and their plight, it engaged in a few battles itself and its crew garnered support for the Betans when returning to the GCC Grand Essembly. In 2307, the Betans were petitioned to join the GCC. They were turned down membership. In 2311, they were petitioned again and the FSU, UEF, Gadaru Cosmic Confederacy, Horde of Akelon, and EU representatives were for the measure, while the Kilaaks and Simeons basically denounced it. The Xiliens abstained. So the Betans were gifted their membership at the GCC and given hyperspace technology. The Gol Wave technology aided them in their battles against the Megans greatly. However, in 2314 the Simeons made motion to give the Megans membership to the GCC. To even the playing field, both the Kilaaks and Xiliens joined in. The Karin were coerced to agree through a trading deal with the Simeons that would lead to scandal. With deadlock of voting, the Overseer of the Council, who was a Kilaak at this time, voted for the Megans’ inclusion. The Megans now had the same technologies as the Betans, but the Betans’ fighting strategies relied mostly on long range combat, so the Gol Wave System that was employed by the Megans caused a series of severe losses for them. This has led the UEF to give the Betans experimental Gol Wave System dampening equipment that has succeeded quite well and allowed the two races to make a demilitarized zone on the second planet to avoid further conflict.

The Betans are very merchantlistic and religious, so EU contact is extremely positive for them. Their government is controlled by a council of of aristocrats and headed by a Lord Protector.

Sample Betan Weapons:

Pinshooter:
This is a two and a half ft. long gun that fires 18mm long needles that are designed to pierce heavy armored troops. It takes a catridge to reload and each cartridge contains six needles.

Starskimmer:
This is an 18ft long vessel that has a max speed of MACH 5. It is characterized by a rectangular fuselage and two, sturdy, wedge-shaped wings. It carries two  plasma guns that have a maximum accuracy range of 230 ft. It also carriers 3x2 rockets that are designed to puncture strong armor. They have a maximum accuracy range of 370 ft.

Magooruns:
This race of warlike amphibians evolved on the second planet in the Geminius System. The enemies of the Betan had an evolutionary cycle filled with pain and hardship, maybe that’s what made these creatures turn out in the way they did. The Magooruns (or Megans as the Betans refer to them) appear to be four ft. tall, squat, red amphibians that have their heads jut out from their body without a neck. They have a single black, orb-like eye, have large mouths filled with thousands of small teeth, and also have three digits on every extremity.

The Magooruns of the planet Megas survived on this rocky world along the massive shallow lakes that bordered the one ocean on the planet. Each species of this world had to develop special weaponry to cope with extreme competition for resources and the Magooruns were not exception. They developed a tribal- based society on hunting and protecting territory for spawning. Brutal tactics and warfare became a hallmark for this species of one-eyed amphibians and brutal nation-states eventually formed on the backs of the conquered or enslaved.

The Magooruns developed technology that would allow them to build heavy weaponry and heavily armored vehicles that would allow them to gain and control vast amounts of territory. The Magooruns were splintered into various warlord-controlled zones when the Betans arrived. The Magooruns destroyed the Betan interlopers and marvelled at their technology. The Magooruns that secured this technology, quickly worked it into their own. Each Magoorun nation joined together with the prospect of a new alien foe. Their idea was to build space ships and take the fight to the foe, not understanding that the Betans were not of malign intentions. The Magooruns, finally, united their cultures into one supra-nation and began their expansion into space.

The war between Betans and Magooruns continued after the Magooruns successfully captured a space port base and placed it under control. What ended the war was the exploration of the GCC-aligned EU into the system. The Nebulans garnered, within a decade or so, enough support for the Betans to become GCC members, however the Kuskan/Simeon race sent delegates to the Magoorun world and formed an alliance. The Kushan returned to the GCC Grand Essembly and won the induction of the Magooruns into the GCC. Still labeled Megans by outsiders, the Magooruns began developing themselves with the new technologies they received from their allies, and plan to eventually conquer the Betans.

The Magoorun government is a military-run dictatorship. It is always ran by the highest ranking military officer and is infamous for the “initiations” into it.

Sample Magoorun Weapons:

Eleen-55
This is a two ft. long plasma rifle that fires a burst of plasma every four seconds. It is intended to be used as anti-infantry weaponry. It takes a 0.94 lb. battery that must be changed every seventen minutes. It has a maximum accuracy range of ninety-four ft.

Land Raider
This is a twelve ton, thirty-two ft long tank that carries four rockets (max accuracy range of five-hundred and seventy-five ft.) and a series of turrets that have a max. accuracy range of three hundred-twelve ft. This vehicle can take massive amounts of damage and is the cornerstone of Magoorun tactics with armor.
