Eren truly had become your rival that night. Since then, the two of you did nothing but try to beat one another at nearly everything you did. Wether it was training, or simply running to be the first to eat it was always a competition. Now, you found yourself in the same predicament, competing to beat Eren Jaeger, your rival.

Eren smirked as he stood upon one of the large tree's ranches. You stood beside him, both of you watching the other soldiers set up the titan props.

"I bet all my cuts will be deeper than yours.."he whispered to you in a daring tone. You returned his smirk and withdrew your two blades, holding one in each hand.

"Yeah right. You always say that but I have yet o see you beat me Eren."you tell him. Eren scoffed and shot out his wires from his 3D maneuver.

"Well we'll see this time!" He jumped from the branch and swung away, hooking into the next tree and so on. You chuckled and followed him, slicing at any Titan props that you came across. It wasn't too long before you and Eren were right next to one another and aiming for the same prop. The brunette looked over at you as he raised his blade. "This time I'm gonna win!"he shouted as he brought the tip of the blade directly into the target at the back of the titan prop's neck.

You saw his cut go deep but you were determined to go deeper. You spun around, in a tornado fashion, and sliced the target directly in half, causing it to slip off the cardboard prop. You smirked while Eren watched in amazement from the branch he stood on. When you swung up and landed next to him, he gawked.

"Whoah…Where did you learn that move?"he asked. You shrugged and slipped your blade back into the slot of the 3D maneuver from which you got it from.

"I didn't really learn it. I just do it. I started after seeing Levi do it a couple times.."you tell him. Eren's blue eyes seemed to twinkle at you.

"Wow..that's so cool ______! You gotta show me!"he begs. Again you shrug.

"Sure, maybe some other time. We should go back to camp now though. I heard the Scout Regiment is coming back today." Eren nodded and feed his composure.

"R-right. Now's not the time to ask for lessons..Let's go." He shot out his wire from his 3D maneuver and hopped off the tree, swinging to the next. You followed him until the two of you reached the city again.

Already, you could see the crowd gathering and horses coming through the gate. You and Eren met up with Mikasa and Armin and all stood side by side as you waited for the scouts to come through.

"It's just like 5 years ago but the crowd seems much more excited to see the scouts this time. "Eren commented. You nod in agreement and turn to look back up at the scouts. Your eyes widen in joy when you saw Levi come through, his face as dull as ever. You grin and wave to him just as he glanced your way.

He didn't do anything. Not even smile. He simply flicked his wrist in a lazy way of recognition before looking back at the blonde man before him. He seemed to say something to him, like getting approval to do something before breaking from the formation and riding his horse over to you. The crowd villagers jumped out the way and you as well as Eren, Armin, and Mikasa, stepped back as the large animal trotted over to you.

Levi stared down at the four of you with a cold cruel gaze and a frown. Armin gulped while Eren and Mikasa stood in awe. The man dismounted from his horse and approached you, standing directly in front of you.

"….._______…"he spoke softly. You stand at full attention, saluting him by placing your right fist over your heart. Eren, Armin, and Mikasa also saluted, following your lead.

"Y-yes sir?"you answer. Levi glanced at your three friends then back to you.

"I heard you graduated training yesterday…Well done."he praised, nodding to all four of you. You ease up a bit and smile at him.

"Thank you sir.."

"However..that means there is no time to dwindle. I'm taking you with me and the scouts. You'll be training and working with us from now on."he says. You heard the others gasp behind you and you frowned.

"W-what? You're taking her already? But..she just graduated!"Eren objected. Levi looked over at him.

"That does not matter…_______ has already agreed to join the regiment no sooner than she graduated. I will look after her from now on."he said. Levi turned back to you. "Let's go."

You knew you couldn't deny Levi nor go against him. You just never knew he would come back for you so soon. He was ready to take you outside the walls and battle titans at his side. You had never done more than practice fighting a titan prop let alone a real one. The thought frightened you but being a soldier, you learned to suppress those feelings in front of others.

You merely nodded. "Yes sir." You turned back to Eren, Armin, and Mikasa. "Well….I suppose this is goodbye..I didn't know it would come so earlier or else I would have told you guys…"you tell them. Eren clenched his teeth and fists, looking down at the ground.

"I can't believe….You're leaving so soon….to fight titans…"he says.

"Yeah….after just graduating. It's impressive _______."Armin says, his blue eyes filling with tears. He couldn't believe it either. This could be his last time seeing you as well as seeing you alive.

"Just be careful _________…"Mikasa added. You look over at her and nod before being embraced by Eren suddenly. His arms wrapped around your torso tightly and his face buried within the crook of your shoulder.

"You better come back alive ______…Stay alive and fight…"he said sternly, trying to hold back his tears. You return the embrace and nod.

"I will try.."

"No. You will live. Promise me!"Eren pulled back to look at your face. He gripped your shoulders firmly. "As rivals! Promise me you won't die! Not until we wipe out the titans!"

"She won't die….I'll see to that…"Levi says, stepping beside you. He looked over at you then back at Eren. "I promise that…" The two males stared at one another before Eren nodded. You then hugged Armin tightly and Mikasa, both making you promise life and see them again.

Levi tapped his foot impatiently, signaling it was time for you to part ways. He hoisted himself onto the back of his horse before helping you up as well. You sat behind him and wrapped your arms around Levi's thin frame.

He didn't wait before snapping the reins of the horse and galloping away with you on the back. You looked over your shoulder at your three friends who stood and waved goodbye. Eren clenched his teeth and cupped his hands around his mouth.

"You better not die ________! You hear me?! You better stay alive!!"he shouted at the too of his lungs as he let his tears flow. "You better…" You raise your arm and wave to him.

"I won't! I promise!"You shout back. You continued to wave until you could see your friends no longer. Dropping your hand, you replace it back around Levi.

"Tch, finally. That was annoying.."he grumbled. "I thought that boy would never shut up…" You raise a brow at Levi.

"Sir, Levi! That boy is my friend. Eren Jaeger! He's really a good friend of mine."you say.

"Tch…figures…Oh, and call me Captain Levi…"he says. You nod.

"Captain Levi..may I ask you something? Why did you choose now to take me into the regiment?"you ask.

"Because this is a time that I need you ______. Since you became a soldier..I was always notified of your progress. You were exceeding excessively and I knew that we couldn't wait long to add somebody of your capability to my squad. Which is why I have chosen to take you as soon as possible…"he explains.

You nod, seemingly in understanding but why would Levi think you had the courage or the skills to fight a real titan? You had no experience. And now he was bringing you right into the battlefield with him.

"We're heading back to our camp. I'll train you myself there with titans…so don't worry too much..however…we will definitely encounter titans on the way so ______…"

"Y-yes sir?"

"Buckle down..because the real story begins here…"
