Pull ups, press ups, sit ups, the normal morning routine. All the while, looking at himself in the mirror.
Then, he stood looking out over the city. It was just waking up, so much commotion on the streets and sidewalks as everyone began to make their way to work or school.
------------
Yogston academy high school.
The bell rang. And everyone wondered inside for another sleepy day of school. All around were posters for the 'Green committee candidate speeches.' that were going to take place that day.
"And the next candidate for Yogston high school green committee president, Ridgedog Kingston."
He smiled his pearly white smile as he looked out over the audience that cheered for him. He was glad he'd decided to do those extra fifty pull ups that morning. It took a while for the audience to die down, as they waved about cut outs of his face and whistled to him. When they had finally quietened down, he started his speech.
"True, or false? You are... an aggressively, unattractive person? Hatcher face? Face sake? Face like Burt Lego?" He nodded towards a boy in the audience who gave a hurt look. "Or did you only just miss the beauty boat? Any which way, best embrace the suck. Beautiful people get it better." A pretty blonde girl smiled up to him. "That's just the way it is." There were a few cheers, and more waving of his face around. The staff at the back of the room turned and looked at each other, discussing something.
Ridge walked round to the front of the podium casually.
"So, so... what has this gotta do with running for green committee president?" He put his hands in his pockets and grinned his usual sly grin.
A girl in the audience watched him, unamused, she has a strange metal looking thing down the side of her face. "Not much." Ridge stated. "Accept, you'll never like me as far as my commitment to the department. I don't have one."
Xevphera watched from the side of the stage, an eyebrow raised in questioning why on earth someone as vein as Ridge would be doing this.
"I just wrote my transcript. But what you should ask yourselves is, should you vote for me just because I'm the rich? Popular? Good looking guy with a famous news anchor dad?" He grinned. "And the answer is, HELL YEAH!"
Everyone cheered and shook his cut out heads around happily. Everyone except Xevphera, who was still stood at the side of the stage and played with the paper that was in her hands. 'Okay...' She mouthed downwards and looked down at her lines. It was gonna be tough to compete with the most popular guy in the whole of the school. But, she didn't seem to be the only one not interested in listening to what he had to say, The girl from before, the one who was watching him all the while being very unamused, had stood up and walked over to the door. He noticed and turned to look at her, at the same time as she looked at him. She wore a long black dress and black stiletto heels and had wavy blonde hair. Ridge watched her leave and then turned back to the cheering audience. He smiled once again as he heard them jeering and chanting his name. But Xevphera was still very much in disbelief that someone like him was popular. When all he cared about was his looks. Oh well, some people like him would never learn... on the other hand, some people like him, would...
