Description
So I decided to rewrite what I've done so far of this story and attempt to continue it, the person 'Lewis' is a guy I met recently who I consider a great friend, abs has agreed for this series to be known as Exza's boyfriend.Anyway, hope you guys enjoy just as much as the first time I uploaded these, and I hope to be doing a comic or a few drawings of this series at a later date.
-Exza~x
"Yeah, I'll see you soon. Ok Lewis. Bye." She pulled her phone away from her ear and threw it down onto the seat beside her, holding the steering wheel with both hands once again. She wasn't the type to be on her phone while driving, heck she wasn't the type to drive a car instead of her ped, but with her best friend constantly phoning her and not giving up, she decided to answer to make the ringing stop.
She glanced down at it as she received a message, only glimpsing the words 'La mother' and 'Be careful Exza.' Lomadia always got worried, hence the nickname 'mother'.
She sighed and continued driving, turning the music more and attempting to focus on the road ahead of her.
She didn't really enjoy driving a car to say the least, but she did need to make it to the lodge they were staying in. Them being, herself, Lewis, a few others from the gemstone fort, Kim, Lomadia, Honeydew, Sips and Sjin. A few of the others would maybe turn up complaining they're bored like usual, but for the most part it promised to be a fun week.
By the time she snapped out of the musically induced spell she was under - which tended to happen a lot - she noticed it was getting dark. Going round a mountain in the dark while driving, not exactly something she would enjoy. She decided to cruse a bit faster and soon made it off the mountain and onto a narrow path lined with trees.
Now Exza had seen a fair few horror films. Enough to know the kind of crazy shit that happened in these scenarios.
The fox tailed girl was jumpy. That was for sure. She sighed, gripping the wheel harder and going fast down the long straight road.
Fearing what could be near here, she decided to pound the accelerate down and go all Mario kart on it. After all, it was a stretch of road that didn't seem to be curving anytime soon. The lodge as far as she remembered, wasn't too far away from this point. However on their ride up there a week before, she hadn't been driving, and had been sat talking with Lewis and listening to music.
She cursed herself for not paying more attention, and preyed that she would see the lodge light in the distance some time soon. Why hadn't she agreed to come up with Lewis in his car... Or to at least have him meet her at the gas station a few miles back.
Attempting to relax she heard her phone buzz again, glancing to it was all it took for her car to swerve and crash.
And so, the car sat there, in the canopy at the side of the long narrow road. Exza sat unconscious inside, her phone buzzing.
------------
"No answer." Lewis said, pulling the phone away from his ear. "She should be here by now..." He scratched his head from on top of his trilby hat and turned to the others. "Do you think something's happened...?" He asked who was sat there.
"She's probably just trying to get here without you distracting her." Kim answered. "Besides, you should know not to phone someone while they're driving." She placed a card down on the wooden table in front of her.
"Yeah she'll be here soon." Honeydew added. "Quit worrying. Come play some cards."
Lewis sighed and walked over to the sofa, sitting down and taking up a hand from the deck. "I don't know... Something doesn't feel right..." He stated wearily.
------------
She came to, noticing the darkness of where she was. She blinked a few times, her head pounding slightly. Sitting up, she soon remembered what had happened.
The front of the car was done in by the tree she'd crashed into. Crushing her legs. The roof of the car was caved in, but she noticed a glimmer of a phone screen in the passenger seat. She managed to wriggle her legs free, groaning in pain and rubbing the sore, cut marks where the metal had been forced into her. She sighed and put a hand to her head, blood trickled down her palm when she looked. She moved her hand to the right, under the caved in roof, to try and retrieve her phone. It would give her some sort of light. She shivered. Scaring herself with thoughts of what could happen to her in this place... In the dark. She didn't want to think about it but that's what her brain reverted to. She gasped a sigh of relief when she felt her phone, and quickly pulled it up, three missed calls from Lewis, two messages. She decided not to answer them, she didn't need him worrying. Although, a lift to the lodge might have been a good idea at this point. She shivered once again, and quickly turned on the flashlight from her phone, pointing it out of the window, expecting a jumpscare as she did so. Nothing. She sighed, gussying herself up for what could be out there. But, before she could even lift a hand to the doorlatch, she felt weak. Dizzy. Her vision began to blur and before she knew it she was unconscious.
------------
"Maybe I should go looking for her..." Lewis said, checking his phone for the third time in a few minutes. "Its been twenty minutes and she's still not here... Last time I spoke to her she said she was no more than 3 miles away... Something must have happened..." He stated, beginning to worry.
"Lewis, calm down, wait ten more minutes and then go look for her. For all you know she could just be taking her time." Kim stated, taking a sip of her drink.
"No... I know Exza, she wouldn't be taking this long... Besides, its dark... We all know how much of a horror buff she is, she'd want to get here as fast as possible..." Lewis said back.
"Ok, we'll come along." Sjin stated. Sips and Turps (who had turned up not long after they had all got there) agreed and they all got into Turps car.
------------
She felt herself waking up again, and pushed herself to look up. Dark. Again. But, a different kind of dark, as if... She was... Inside?
She rubbed her head again, perhaps the others had found her and brought her to the lodge to rest? Hopefully...
She squinted as a new light entered the room, flickering on in rows. Candle light. She looked around. The room was a dark purple colour, the ceiling held chandeliers or wax candles, and around the room were pedestals holding the same.
Needless to say, at this point, she was scared. The floor beneath her was a dark wood, looked very expensive. The room itself was long, and to the front of her, stood a silhouette.
She could feel her heart beating faster.
"So... You're... Awake..." A deep, calm voice came from the front of the room. "I was beginning to thing you had left us..." It added. The voice itself was somewhere charming. Pronouncing the words correctly, however the silhouette that held it was quite the opposite. It had its back to her, shoulders hunched slightly forward, what appeared to be a long black cloak.
She just sat there. "Nope still alive." Was all she could think to say. If the person hadn't killed her already she was sure he probably would purely based off of her snide and sarcastic humour.
The silhouette turned to face her, the candles next to it lighting up, illuminating him.
His face was sharp, his eyes, held dark circles underneath, but dazzled a bright blue. atop his head his hair was wavey, windswept and dark. His clothes consisted of the cloak, draped back over one shoulder to reveal a black patterned waistcoat and black undershirt. Black trousers and shiney black dress shoes.
After taking in his appearance she attempted to stand up, struggling slightly she eventually managed to, and clenched her fists in case she would need to defend herself.
"This is no place for you..." The man said. His eyes pierced her, yet he didn't falter in his strong stance. "You must leave." He turned, holding the cloak up, from the back she assumed it looked like it gave him a hood of sorts.
"But... Why did you bring me here! If I have to leave!" Exza asked across the room, her voice echoing slightly. She stepped forward.
"Just... Go..." The man answered, walking forwards and out through the doors in the centre of the three large glass windows that stood to the front of the room. It had been so dark that she hadn't noticed before. She hurried after him, limping slightly.
"Wait!" She called. He stopped. She stopped. They now stood in a corridor. "Please... Why bring me here to then tell me to leave... I don't even know where I am! Who are you..."
"Are you not yet strong enough to leave...?" Was the mans response.
"Just... Tell me where I am... Tell me who you are."
He turned to her. His skin deathly pale, and his expression closed off from the world. "I brought you to safety." He stated. "Granted... First I saw you alone in that car, you seemed to be panicking slightly. Working yourself up. I was tempted to see how easily you scare." He took a few steps forward, causing him to he about a step away from her. "But then you fell unconscious again. At this point..." He breathed for a second through his mouth, his lips parting to reveal sharp canine teeth. "I considered eating you..."
"... What are you..." Exza asked.
"Are you not scared... I am a vampire..." He answered.
"I'm not scared." She said firmly.
"And why would that be...?" He asked back. "I just told you I was considering eating you. Does that not scare you."
"Not really..." This answer seemed to take the man by surprise, as his expression changed from the solemn, closed off expression it had held before to a more relaxed, confused state. "You also said you were considering... And due to the fact that I'm still alive right now, I'd take that to mean that you changed your mind. And due to the fact that I'm in... This place... I'd take that to mean you were trying to help... And then considering the fact that you told me to leave before and told me this isn't a good place for me, I'll take that to mean you're trying to protect me from yourself."
He blinked and seemed to not be able to think of any words. "You... Were the first human... I have been able to resist the urge to devour. I admit... I do not enjoy eating humans... But... It is instinct... But you... Have evaded all my instincts."
Suddenly, she was pushed against the wall, warm breathe on her neck.
"I am... Famished..." He breathed. She didn't flinch. "Does this not scare you... That I could lean down right now, and kill you... Or worse... Turn you into what I am... A creature doomed to live eternity away from your once loved ones... For fear of... Of..." He pulled away. Continuing to walk down the corridor. "As I said... This is no place for you..." He muttered.
She took a second to catch her breathe and then pushed herself from the wall.
"Wait!" She shouted after him. He stopped. "What's you're name...?"
"...Xephos..."
