"Thanks for dropping by." Duncan said as he shook Ridge's hand.
"That's my job!" the moderator answered. "It's good to see you're doing so well since... since your dad died."
Duncan smiled at him, Ridge was one of his fathers good friends and they used to call him 'Uncle Ridge' whenever they would see him.
"He would have wanted us to work hard."
"Just remember to keep an eye on Lewie."

Lalna nodded and the moderator bagan walked towards the barn to say goodbye to the other brothers, as Duncan went inside to cook them some dinner.
Walking into the barn he saw Lewis getting a bandage wrapped around his lower arm, and seemed to be quiet annoyed by it.
"It's only a sprain." he told Paul, who continued to wrap it.
"Well I did say not to go climbing in the rafters. You're lucky it's just a sprained wrist, you could have hurt yourself even more."
"It's easier to spread seeds along the floor from up on the beams, beside I wouldn't have lost my balance if you hadn't come in and distracted me." the youngest pulled his arm away from Paul and the brothers realised that Ridge was there.

"Well, i'm off." he stated
"Ar-"
"Good." Lewis interupted his brothers sentance.
"Lewis!" Paul whispered angrily to his brother.
"It's fine, I understand I crossed the line by talking about... Well you know."
"We don't need you coming around here all the time. We can manage on our own." the youngest brother stated.
"Sure you can." Ridge looked down at Lewis' wrist. This made the youngest grumble at him and put his hand around his wounded wrist.

"Are you going already?" Paul continued from where he was before he had been interupted.
"I'm afraid so, I have to get back to my ranch and feed the cattle. Don't work too hard."
Paul nodded, his brother stood up and barged past the man, his arms folded. This caused Ridge to sigh. "Take care of him Sjiny boy."
"I will, it's hard sometimes, but I think he'll get better."
"Trust me, he will."

And with that said, the moderator left the shed, climbed on to his horse and rode away towards the large setting sun.

"Lewis, you were really rude to Uncle Ridge." Paul stated as he walked into the main house. His older brother was in the kitchen, cooking away. And the youngest was lying on the sofa in the lounge.
"He's not our uncle Sjin!" he shouted, sitting up fast. The shout caused Duncan to come running in.
"He talked about our mum so casualy and with no symathy, when she's dead!"
"Lewis..."
"Forget it." the youngest brother stood up and marched towards the stairs.
"What about dinner?"
"I'm not hungry."

------------

Paul walked into the bedroom, holding a plate of food.
"Hey." he said quietly as he saw his younger brother. Lewis was lying on the bed, holding a picture of the whole family in his hand. He sniffled and whiped his eyes as Paul walked over.
Placing the food down he sat next to Lewis on the bed.
"When was that?"
Lewis looked to him, his eyes red from crying and wipping them.
"Just before mum went to hospital. We all went to the beach and took a picknick. When it started raining we all huddled under this one blanket, no-one thought to bring another."

Paul looked at the photo, a drop of water splashed onto it and his younger brother sniffled again.
He put his arm around him, and his brother hugged him back. He could hear him sobbing into his shoulder, and he felt his shirt begin to get damp.
"Why did she have to leave us?" his brothers muffled and quiet voice sounded.
"Because the doctors... The doctors couldn't help her."
"They should have tried!" his brother lifted his head and thumped Paul on the chest with his hands, tears springing from his eyes. "They should have..."

Duncan walked in now, he crept quietly closer to the bed and sat on the other side of thier brother, putting his arm around him.
"You both knew her for so long."
"I know, it's not fair that she was only around for a few years Lewie, but she loved you just as much as she loved us."
"Dad-dad wouldn't, he wouldn't let me- see her. You two both got to- got to say goodbye. And I wasn't allowed to."

They discussed the matter for the next half hour, they talked about when they were younger and how they would read Alice in wonderland to him, how they taught him how to hoe the ground and plant seeds, how thier mother was the best cook in the world and thier father would take them out on the tractor.
Finally after that half hour Lewis had fallen asleep. The other two stood up silently and moved him so that his legs weren't hanging over the side of the bed. They then placed his covers on and went to get ready for bed themselves.

------------

When they woke in the morning, Lewis wasn't in his bed. Looking downstairs, he wasn't in the house either. They thought this strange and decided to go look in the barn. Macebanks, thier brothers horse, was tyed up outside the barn grazing on the green grass.
"Lewis?" Duncan called. Thier brother popped his head out of the barn, in his hands he held a big bag of seeds.
"What are you doing in there?" Paul asked and his brother looked down to the bag.
"I- er. Couldn't sleep."

They watched as he pulled the bag around the back of the shed, when they followed surprise strook them. Thier brother had hoed and sown all of the ground that would usually take them a few days between them. The ground had been fertilised and cared for.
They stared open mouther at thier brother, who scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah it's not much but."
Duncan ruffled his brothers raven hair. "It's amazing!"
"Hang on you were out here all night, with mobs about? Did you get hurt?"
Lewis hid his already hurt arm from his brother and shook his head. He recieved a questioning look from the other two and sheepishly put his arm out infront of them. There was quiet a large cut down it, but nothing a plaster wouldn't fix.
Paul sighed "Come on then, i'll clean that up."
"And i'll make breakfast."

And with that the three brothers went back inside.
