Cormburskan decided not to mention what he'd seen up on the deck, he didn't want to freak anyone out after all, besides, it was probably just a trick of his mind or something. He walked down the steps and into the main kitchen area. Red sat at the table, a comic book open in front of him, though his attention was on the fox tailed girl who at the moment was chasing a small mouse around the room. Xevphera was sat with her headphones in up on the counter.
He took a seat next to Red and watched Exza carefully.
"How long haz she been chazing zat mouse for?" He asked. Red didn't look away from her.
"About half an hour, she could have caught it already, but they seem to be playing around. It... strange."
"You can say zat again."
Suddenly a tremor shook them all.
Red fell backwards off the seat and landed on his bottom on the floor. Cormburskan jumped up in order to not follow his alien friend. Exza fell onto her side and attempted to stand up. Xevphera clenched up as the headphones fell from her ears and she was almost shook from her perch.
The tremor stopped a few seconds later and everyone looked to each other.
"What the bloody hell was that?" Xevphera asked and jumped from on the counter. She looked to Exza, who crouched on the floor and arched her back slightly, looking around timidly.
"No idea." The fox tailed girl said.
"Don't vorry mien dear, I'm zure the seaz juzt getting a bit choppier..."
"Yeah, sure its not a monster or anything." Red said sarcastically. Exza hissed at him, showing her sharp, vampiric teeth.
"You aren't funny. I feel something wrong. There's actually something out there." The girl hopped toward the stairs and made her way up. The others followed.
Now at the top of the stairs and on the deck of the boat, they stared at a large green tail that was sinking back into the deep. Whelp... that wasn't good.
------------
They were sat in the kitchen once again.
"Ok, i'm a little worried guys." Exza stated. "I know I don't say that much, but..."
"Don't panic, well just turn the boat around, its fine." Red stated.
"In this weather ? You'll be lucky to get the boat started."
"Oh yeah?" Red made his way to the steering room, the others followed. "I'm telling you, well be able to control the boat no prob-" he opened the door to find that water rushed from the inside and swept against their ankles. "Bloody hell!" he closed the door quickly. How was the entire steering room gone?! He turned to the others, Exza hissed as she jumped up and clung to the light, attempting to avoid the water. Cormburskan gave a worried look and Xevphera leant against the wall.
"So... What now space boy?"
"Don't call me that."
"Well, you're the one who 'knows what he's doing'. How we gonna get home?"
"Now now. Don't fight. Ve need to come up viv a good plan." Cormburskan interrupted. He jumped as Exza lowered herself down, headfirst next to him.
"I have a plan ... Get out of the water..."
------------
They were once again sat in the kitchen. Xevphera stood and walked over to the stairs and made her way up on to the deck. Red decided to follow her, after all, Cormburskan was thinking of a new way to get the ships running using spare parts that were lying around, and Exza was lying on her back looking up at the ceiling.
"We should probably stay inside..." he stated, causing the elf to turn to him. She shrugged.
"I'm not that worried."
"You don't really seem worried by anything."
She shrugged, and he could see she didn't want to talk about it. Probably some root tot he past that she didn't want to think about. Least of all share it with him.
He took a seat next to her and let his legs hang over the edge. Only now did he realise how tall she was, about the same height as himself.
"So why did you come here anyway, I mean... you don't really seem to be enjoying it. Or our company."
"You can blame Xephos for that."
"The other spaceman? You two seem pretty close."
"I guess. He just said I needed time to relax."
"Well, if he knew you then he'd know not to send you onto a tiny ass boat."
"Honeydew's idea."
"And that would be his dwarven friend right?"
She nodded and they sat in silence for a moment. The sea looked calmer than before, hopefully a good sign.
Then again, perhaps not. The two stood as they saw green scales rising from the water, but just as quickly as they had appeared, they went away, back into the murky sea. Another tremor hit the boat, hard. The deck was washed in water, taking the two and pulling them from the boat.
Sinking, in a wash of foam and green sickly water, Xevphera could only see the red glow from the aliens eyes as she began to sink. She spotted him, but the water was still churning around her and then, green swept in front of her. And everything turned black.
