Description "Right, I've made a fairly decent prototype, I worked well on a pig-" the reaper spoke as he walked from the bunker. "Lalna, what are they doing here?" He asked, raising off the ground a little.
"They snook in." The scientist answered. "Its ok, Xeph seems fine with them being here. Did you just feed him?"
"Uh... No, he needs feeding soon. That's odd." He shrugged, clicked a button on the strange collar he held in his hands, and then floated upwards and over to the dino turned spaceman.
Xephos shied away slightly, inching backwards and roaring a little at Ridge. The reaper went closer, holding out the collar and going towards his neck to attach it. The dinosaur turned his head, and the reaper jumped back quickly as he snapped his big jaws at him.
"Bad Xephos!" Ridge said, bopping him on the snout. Xephos turned his head, managing to hiss at the reaper, the feathery spines atop his head shaking slightly in anger.
"Ridge! Don't treat him like a pet!" Lalna shouted up at him. The reaper sighed.
"Well how do I do this then?!" He yelled back, throwing his hands through the air and jumping back slightly as the dino snapped at him again. He raised a finger and pointed it to the dino, giving him a disapproving look.
"Pass it here." A voice came from below. The elf was in the cage. The reaper looked from her to the dinosaur, who was nuzzling against her side. He gestured from her to the dino and then rolled his eyes.
"Ohhhh, so you don't try and eat her!" He shouted. The dinosaur hissed at him again. He threw the collar down to the elf and she looked at it. The outside was black, a couple of little lights flashing on the front. The inside had two thick barbs, that looked like they would stick into his neck.
"I know it looks bad but we need those on it." Lalna said from behind the fence.
"Fine... Sorry Xeph." She said, watching him lower his head. She threw half of the collar to one side, jumped up over his neck, landing in a seated position, and grabbed the other side all in a couple of seconds. She tied it, feeling him wince in pain beneath her as the barbs dug in. She stroked him on the head. "Sorry buddy..." She said, before jumping off, one foot landing on the fence, and then propelling herself off so that she was next to the others again, sliding slightly across the floor.
The reaper floated back over, landing next to them all and pulling out a remote type device. "Now we press this and it tightens... And then we should be able to hear him speak... If it works. Its the tenth one we've made and the others either didn't work, or he broke them before we could see if they would." He said.
The dino looked to one side, guiltily. It wasn't that he didn't want to be helped, of course he did, but his mind told him to hunt. To go for the ones that wronged him, the ones that were there when he turned. The ones that saw him go through that pain. It hadn't been a pleasant feeling...
"Here we go." The reaper said, pressing the button. There was an electronic sound, like when a blood pressure device tightens, and suddenly the dinosaur screeched in pain, stumbling on his feet and almost falling, ramming into the sides of the cage. "Sorry Xephos." The reaper said.
But as he was about to press the button again to loosen it, the sound of the screeching coming from the dinosaur turned to the sound of a man yelling in pain. It was working. The spaceman's yelling soon came to a stop, and the dinosaur backed itself into a corner of the cage, looking down and whimpering slightly. From the communicator came the sound of the spaceman panting shakily.
It had worked!
"Xeph?" Lalna said, catching the dinosaurs attention. He whined in response, the communicator buzzed slightly and then turned to his voice.
"Y-yeah...?" Was the response. It was working! They could talk to him!
Now all they had to do was figure out how to turn him back... That may take a little longer.
