Description Vault - Floor 04 - 3:20PM

Ridge walked over, walking in between them, silent. The only sound in the room was the stumbling of the spaceman as he tried to stay upright.
"Xephos the vault wasn't meant to survive. We were thrown into a vault that was meant to break down after just a couple of days. And yet, we've managed to survive for a couple of years now. And that's because we all worked together." The reaper stated, calmly.
The spaceman looked at him for a moment. "But... Why are we running out of stuff now?" He asked, unsteady on his feet.
"Because, vaults were only given enough supplies to last 6 months, at which point, vault tec expected everyone to be able to leave the vaults after that long. Only their vaults were planned to contain more supplies just in case. But their plans went wrong... My plans went wrong. Lalna's plans went wrong. That's just how it went. We managed to scavenge and last this long... But for the moment, unless we somehow manage to fix things, we have to rely on the project Lalna and yourself have been working on."
"That's a lot to take in Ridge..." Xephos stated, seeming more sober. Of course as soon as he had realised this, he took another swig of his gin.
"Xephos you don't speak of this to anyone... You understand? Were doing all we can to find another way to continue while you both continue working on the project. But... This us strictly kept to this room. Between us. Got it?" Ridge asked. The spaceman nodded in response.
And at that, the reaper disappeared, and the two were left to continue working.

Vault - floor 04 - 11:45 PM

After work that day he went to the bar, drank a bit, hung out with Honeydew, and then went back to his room. He flopped down on the bed, turning onto his back and staring up at the ceiling, where he'd painted a cluster of a spacescape. He sighed, his vision spinning. Like usual.
For once he decided to go to sleep without drinking himself to that point, and placed his gin to once side, laying there and rubbing his eyes. When he closed them, images ran through his mind. The explosion, the fire. The burning feeling in the back of his throat. He could still feel it. At this point he grabbed the gin bottle and let the tears fall, downing some and then wiping his eyes.
He warily looked up at the ceiling, the room spinning even more as he struggled to keep his eyes open. The bottle dropped from his hand, managing to smash on the carpet. And he fell unconscious.
In this unconsciousness, the images returned, but instead of just pictures in front of him, flashing on and off, he was there once again. The village, his friends... The bomb...
This happened whenever he tried to sleep, only this time, he didn't seem to want to wake up...

Vault - Floor 04 - 00:50 AM

"When's he gonna wake up?" The dwarf asked, looking down at his friend.
"I don't know Honeydew." The reaper answered. "Look, its not the first time this has happened."
"It shouldn't be happening that's the thing... He shouldn't have to drink like this! I don't think I've seen him sober since... About a month after the bomb went off." He sighed, sitting down and readjusting his helmet atop his head. "This is why I hate vault tec... They did this... All of it."
Ridge looked down at the spaceman, avoiding eye contact with the dwarf. It got to him when people would say that. That's why he hadn't told them. That's why he didn't plan to. He just wanted to repay them.
"He will wake back up... You gonna stay here?" He asked.
"Yeah... I usually do so..." The dwarf answered.
Ridge nodded. "Take it easy yeah. I'll get someone to cover your job for a little while. Probably Sjin or something." He nodded and then walked out.
"Oh Xeph... Why do you do this to yourself...?" Honeydew asked, before sighing and just waiting for him to awake.
------------
In his drunken induced dream, like in most of his dreams, he remembered what had happened. It was the same every time. And this was why he tried not to sleep.
He didn't like to remember. He didn't WANT to remember.
He let the memory fade into the darkness, and hoped to awake before it effected him too much.
------------
Xephos had been an outsider, he had fallen from the sky years before the explosion. Honeydew had been the one to find him, to help get him back on his feet and look after him.
Then he'd met the others, and they'd liked him and gotten to know him. It wasn't a big village, himself, Honeydew, Lalna, Lomadia, Sips and Sjin at first.
After about a year he had decided to go venturing off with his dwarven friend. After his friend returned to the village, he decided to continue on his own, venturing far and wide across the world. He had gotten tattoos, scars, piercings. He'd gotten his hair cut, new clothes. Every so often he would return to the village, and every time everyone would notice something new about him.
Then he'd be off again, staying for a couple of days or a week, then going off again. He'd seen a lot, been through a lot. He had decided to return to the village, for good. Greeting his friends and setting up a house of his own instead of sharing with the dwarf.
Ridge had started hanging out with them a lot more at this point, he didn't seem as busy as usual. Strange.
The spaceman was agitated not moving around all the time, but at the same time it gave him a little peace. Still, due to venturing around like that, it made him paranoid, constantly jumpy. The dwarf had noticed this, but understood.
After a few weeks, the bomb had gone off. He watched people die, people burn in front of him, whole houses blown up as the mushroom cloud rose into the distance in the air.
He stared on, looking around, trapped under a beam from his ceiling. After managing to make his way out, he ran straight to Honeydews. Ridge appeared outside.
"Xephos! Get everyone up that hill and into the vault that's up there! Now!" The reaper yelled. The spaceman seemed confused, but nodded and ran inside, the dwarf wasn't there, upon exiting he saw the dwarf already running to the vault entrance. He nodded and then ran around, helping anyone he could who wasn't already dead. His throat burnt. His skin felt like it was being pierced all over, but he wasn't going to leave anyone behind. He would help people to the vault, then go rushing back off to help others.
After everyone was evacuated, he ran for the vault, noticing the reaper yelling to him, telling him to hurry before he got left behind.
He ran. And he ran. And he got just there as the door was closing. He managed to leap through, crashing into the back wall as everyone cleared away.
The yogscast were in the vault now. Along with a couple of others that had recently joined the village. Mark, Jack, a couple of others.
The spaceman looked around at everyone, noticing how many they'd lost. How many he couldn't save... How many he... Had to watch die...
He looked to Honeydew, who saw the break in him. That break hadn't gone since. The spaceman was broken that day. After a couple of seconds, he had dropped to the floor, blacked out. Hearing faint voices of worry and concern as he faded off.
He had woken up a couple of days later, in the vault. Honeydew sat beside him, and smiled, hugging him. Happy that he was alive and awake. Though he still noticed the break in his eyes.
For the next month the spaceman hadn't been himself, he'd hardly spoken, stuck to himself... Even turned to... darker stuff. Once Honeydew noticed, he wasn't happy. He had noticed the spaceman wearing longer sleeves all of a sudden and questioned him, watching him break down, getting angry and crying.
Then, the next day, he had began drinking. And after that, he hadn't stopped.

Vault - floor 04 - 4:20 AM

He stirred, wearily. His eyes threatening to close again. He looked to his right, seeing the dwarf asleep next to him.
He sat up, regaining his senses, and then stepping from the bed.
He decided a late night walk when everyone was asleep would be good. He grabbed a bottle of gin from his cupboard, and then walked down the corridor towards the lab.

Vault - Floor 04 - 6:00 AM

The dwarf awoke to see the spaceman gone, he looked around. Nowhere in his room. He sighed and walked out, glad his friend was awake again, but he had a bone to pick with him.
------------
The spaceman awoke again to see the dwarf stood in front of him, his arms folded.
The spaceman say up, still slouched over, his eyes half closed from exhaustion.
"Yeah...?" He asked, secretly hiding the plans under some other paper work. The dwarf didn't notice.
"Don't yeah me... You need to stop doing this! You can keep this up! You're gonna kill yourself!" Honeydew said.
"Yeah because that'd be the worst thing ever right..." The spaceman said sarcastically, looking away.
"Yes. It would be!" The dwarf sighed and forced himself to calm down. "Xeph... You realise me and you have hardly talked since the whole thing...? Us... We were best friends! But since then... You act like you're fine but you're not! You haven't been sober since then!" He said.
"..." The spaceman looked straight into his eyes. The dwarf blinked and looked to the gin bottle that was on the desk next to the spaceman. It wasn't even opened.
"You... Havnt drank...?" The dwarf asked.
"No... Not yet..." Xephos answered. "But I will... And its not gonna change. I need it. And I know you think I don't and everyone sees me as a burden... But I still do my job, I still do what I'm supposed to I'm still... Slightly sane... Sane enough to know that I'm not gonna kill myself." He stated.
Honeydew looked at him for a moment.
"You don't know Honeydew... Nobody does..." Tears began to fall from his eyes slowly.
Honeydew hugged him. "Its ok... Its how you cope... But you need to realise that you can't push people away because of it. I'm still here. And I know its probably because we remind you of it but... You saved everyone you could." He smiled. "Right... Go get some actual sleep because you look like shit. I need sleep too."
"Yeah... Thanks... Friend..." The spaceman answered, grabbing his gin and walking out back to his room. The dwarf went back to his.
This was the first time his friend had been sober since that time, and he knew why. He was broken because of it. He sighed and shook his head. He would do what he could, but the spaceman seemed to cope the best doing what he did. As long as he didn't kill himself, it would all be fine.
The spaceman looked up at the ceiling, holding up his gin. He took a couple of swigs, then placed it down and curled up, ready for sleep.
He welcomed it, and embraced the darkness as it enveloped him, lulling him to sleep.
