Birthdays weren't always Xephos's favourite ting, but he had to admit that he was having fun over the past week leading up to Lalna's 18th. The blonde had been excited and was literally bouncing off of the walls, especially the day before. It was a laugh for Xephos, he hadn't really expected someone as intelligent as Lalna to be this excited, his nickname was the mad scientist for Christ sake! But he supposed even the most of intelligent people get excited over something, and in his best friends case it was his birthday. Lalna's was the first birthday out of the lot of them, Rythian's being a few weeks later, and the blonde couldn't wait.
Xephos didn't know how everyone else was at getting gifts, but he was actually quiet good at finding the perfect gift, it was a gift really! He asked Xevphera what she was going to get him and she said that it was a secret and even though they told each other basically everything, him being Lalna's roommate it might have slipped out in the middle of a conversation. Xephos understood and seen as it was only the start of the week, four days before the scientist birthday, he asked her if she would accompany him to get a present. The elf agreed and they went down to the 'secret market' the next day during their free period. He was amused by what his best friend was wearing, it was very weird but suited. A red shirt with a black waist coat over the top, done up with silver buttons and a silver tie tucked underneath. Her trousers were deep grey with red and silver spray-paint looking texture riding down her long legs. Her shoes came up to just below her kneecap and were white with blue rims and sole. On her nose were the spaceman's nerd glasses he said she could keep.
She smiled at him as he walked towards their usual meeting place. He smiled back, he liked her smile. The first thing the elf aid to him was 'grey' the colour of his glasses that day and this made him smile even more. They spent most of the afternoon looking for the perfect present for the scientist, but didn't have any luck. the elf was amazing at finding gifts for people and guessing their size (in the case of clothes) or flavour (food) etc. but nothing they found suited their blonde friend. She seemed annoyed by this but Xephos made her smile by buying them some chocolates to share, their usual, cherry chocolate balls with raspberry ripple cream on top. As always they were delicious, and again as always there was one left over which they split as to keep to their tradition. Xephos found it cute how the elf didn't' like anyone watching her eat and would make her laugh by trying to look at her when she hid her face from him. They both laughed and then continued on their search. The spaceman was scared that he wouldn't find the perfect gift for his roommate, but decided to keep looking maybe even if they were a little past curfew as long as they found something.
They spent the rest of the day looking but to no avail, they decided to head back tomorrow and try again. However on their way back to the academy they spotted a little shop on the corner, no shops or buildings surrounded it and it was a pale pastel blue colour with beach balls painted on the side. They looked to each other, they couldn't sell anything in this shop could they. his best friend raised an eyebrow to him and he giggled. They walked into the shop to hear laughter.
"Hello?" the spaceman asked as they walked slowly towards the counter that was in front of them. "Oh hi guys, how are you?" a startled Nilesy asked in his Scottish accent as he shot up from a barely visible seat behind the counter. Looked like he was perched on top of a beach ball. "What are you guys doing here?" he asked and the other two looked confused at him. The pool boy had been sat next to another man, he had black hair aswell that went down over his eyes and made him look slightly like professor Snape from Harry Potter. Nilesy stood with his arms crossed and looked at his friends awkwardly.
"were shopping." Xephos answered raising an eyebrow to the poolboy. Nilesy looked from them to the other man, who seemed a bit confused. "Oh yeah, Xephos, Xevphera, this is my dad, dad these are my friends." the pool boy spoke to the other man. He stood up standing at least a foot above his son. He seemed very menacing and glared at them. Xephos noticed Xevphera clench her fist in case the man came too close to them.
He walked around the front of the counter and loomed over to them, before embracing them in a vey tight handshake. He smiled widely and greeted them "It's good to finally meet my sons friends. He always talks about you!" he stated in a thick Russian accent. The best friends nodded to the man and he turned to Nilesy "You were telling the truth, I owe your mother 10 pounds!" he stated in a jolly voice before returning to the back of his shop. Nilesy looked awkwardly to his friends and they stood there. Xephos rubbed his fist where the man had grabbed it, Xevphera didn't seem to care about the fact that it hurt, he knew she was very weird about people touching her in any way, she only let him touch and even then he didn't out of politeness, besides what was he going to do hug her every time he saw her? the only time he had ever hugged her was when one of the jocks pushed him into her. Her hair had smelt like strawberries, he wondered what it smelt like now. the elf had noticed him looking at her with curiosity and she raised an eyebrow to him and knocked him out of his trance "Sorry." he said before looking to the yellow floor.
The Russian man walked back through carrying a coat hanger with a black case over it. "This is what I was looking for!" he stated "I know what you want for your friend, I am somewhat of a psychic, I was going to throw this away, but I think that it is exactly what you need, especially to go with yur present little elf." he stated as he lay the case down on the desk very carefully and signalled for the two to walk over. "I already have a gift." Nilesy stated as they looked to him. It was perfect! Amazing! the spaceman hadn't believed that psychics had existed until then, but he knew they did after that. It was the perfect present for his best friend, and because they were Nilesy's friends they didn't have to pay!

It was Lalna's birthday, how did Xephos know? well his friend was jumping on the spaceman's bed, causing him to wake up violently and fall onto the carpeted floor. He rubbed his head and his bottom back and smiled wearily at his friend, who was now jumping on his own bed and smiling widely. "Its my birthday!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, it was a Friday on a B week so no lessons for the first two periods, they were going to take the scientist out for a meal after handing over his presents.
Everyone had been in the room 10 minutes later and they all sat around the two beds that they pushed together in a circle. "Sips." Lalna said he smiled at the dirt trader who looked down at her present and handed it to him looking a bit worried. The scientist opened it and pulled out a little silverfish plushy. The scientist laughed and thanked Sips, he apparently liked them sort of things. Sips smiled "I wasn't sure whether you already had that one or not." she stated but the scientist shook his head and gave the girl a hug. "Lomadia?" Lalna asked and smiled at his adopted sister. she handed him a parcel, it was circular "Oh my god you didn't?!" he asked excitedly before opening the parcel rapidly he pulled out what looked like a brownie mixed with a cake and looked delighted "I love you you know that!" he said before hugging his sister "I did it especially, I knew it was a special birthday being your 18th and all." she stated hugging her brother back and placing the pie cake thing out of the way.
"Nilesy?" the pool boy looked up, he seemed to still be wrapping the parcel together and had gotten it wrapped around his face. "Ha-ha how did you manage that?!" the scientist asked before unravelling him ad grabbing the present. he opened it and pulled out a new teal coloured tank top, probably because it was still summer and he only had thick tops with sleeves or t-shirts. He also pulled out a pair of teal coloured socks and boxers. "thanks I needed a summer top I've been boiling in these ones!" he stated before nudging the pool boy with his elbow. Nilesy smiled and seemed relieved that he liked them. "Bro?" Lalna turned to Rythian, who hadn't had enough time to comb his hair or put on his scarf, to the left of his mouth was a scar, it wasn't that noticeable though and his hair was a mess, but it kinda looked quiet cool. The mage smiled at his brother and handed him a circular parcel. The scientist opened it to reveal a snow globe of a castle on a cliff. The scientist looked amazed "How did you?" he asked and seemed a bit upset about it but in a good way. He giggled to himself as he looked down at the bed and looked back up sniffing and putting the snow globe to the side out of the ay of it getting smashed. He smiled at his brother who smiled back, he seemed quiet aswell. But that changed as the scientist perked up and turned to the spaceman and the elf who looked at each other and presented one big box together "We put them both in here." Xevphera stated and the scientist smiled.
He opened the package carefully, the wrapping was fancy and had taken the two ages to do, especially since the curious spaceman managed to glue his hand to his face and they spent half an hour trying to remove it. The scientist laughed as they told him this and the spaceman turned bright red. "Awwww" Sips said and Xephos smiled.
"Oh my god, why, how?!" he asked as he jumped of the bed and pulled out a white leather jacket and a pair of grey goggles form the box. "I love them!" he shouted to the others and pulled the coat over his shoulders, it was a perfect fit. He placed the circular goggles on top of his unruly blonde hair. "Ha-ha!" he stated as the others smiled at the two friends find." they were amazing at finding gifts obviously! He ran over to them and hugged them, Xevphera stiffened at first but them seemed alright and smiled at the scientist, who actually looked like one now! He sat back in his previous position and moaned when he was sitting on something. He pulled out a teal coloured bra from underneath him and turned questioningly to Nilesy, who went red. "Oh don't worry that's not for anything like that." he stated and Lalna looked at him even more confused, the pool boy grabbed the bra and walked over to the rest of the presents, a brown object flew into Lalna's face and the pool boy laughed along with everyone else, including the birthday boy. "It was for that you little shit!" the Scotsman shouted and the others jumped onto their feet and began a cake fight in the room.
After being made to clean it up by the dorm he others made their way to the meal and went o their classes. In the night they snook out after curfew and went to hit the town, using fake licences that the pool boys dad had gotten them. They spent most of the night out and all woke up in Lalna and Xephos's room in the morning wearing half of their clothes.
Xephos wasn't sure what they had been drinking, but one thing was for certain, he was definatly looking fall wards to his birthday!
