Description
I walked down the corridor to my new school, Domino High. Being in new places is scary to say the least. But I took a deep breathe and went to my locker, placing some books that I wouldn't need inside, along with some pictures on the inside of the door.I decided I'd try and make the best out of this. I lived alone, and with it being a new place I wasn't entirely sure where anything was. Because of that I was late to school this day. Still other students bustled down the corridor, and one bumped into me, knocking books from my hands.
I looked at him as he glared back at me. His hair was a white and long and his eyes, judging. I shrugged it off as he walked away down the corridor and picked up my books. I had to get to my first class after all...
I walked to the classroom my timetable told me I would be in and knocked shyly in the door. It opened and what I assumed to be the teacher smiled at me. "Ah, you must be the new student." I gave a sheepish look in response as he turned to the class. "Everyone, this is ______! Right we'll we're all full for seats except for in the back corner, so why don't you go sit over there next to Bakura?" He asked me.
I looked over to where the only empty seat was and spotted who the teacher was talking about. The guy who had bumped me in the corridor. Knowing there was no other seats I walked over and sat down, avoiding the glare I was getting from the white haired boy. What was his problem...?
I leant on my desk, at least at the back I didn't have to worry about getting called on by the teacher much, and he wouldn't pay too much attention to me.
After class the bell rang, and everyone leapt up. "Class how many times must I tell you? The bell doesn't dismiss you, I dismiss you..." He watched them leave the room. "Ok, assignments are in Friday don't forget, and yes Joey, I know all of your excuses by now."
I stood and began packing away my bag when Bakura barged past me and out of the room. I fell onto my side and looked up to see him at the doorway, glaring back at me before walking out. I shook my head slightly, I had no clue what I'd done to offend him... I moved so that I was on my knees instead and began picking up the stuff that had fallen from my bag.
Another person knelt next to me and handed me some stuff, I looked to them. "T-thank you..." I mumbled, slightly shocked at who was in front of me. Bakura...?
"You ok?" A girl asked from the other side of my desk. I nodded slightly and let the kinder looking Bakura help me up. He gave me a big smile. "What's your name again?" The girl asked. She had short brown hair.
"______" I replied, cautiously.
"Nice name! I'm T`ea! This is Ryou." She replied, nodding to the other Bakura.
"Hello." The other Bakura smiled again. His face was softer, kinder. Cuter really.
"Uh... Hi." I said, giving an awkward smile.
"I know what it's like to be new, why don't you come hang out with our group of friends at lunch?" Ryou asked, his British accent kind.
"Uh... I wouldn't want to intrude..." I replied, rubbing the back of my head.
"Nonsense!" T`ea said, smiling. "Come meet everyone, it'll be fun!"
"Hey guys what's takin' so long?! I'm starving over 'ere!" A voice came from across the front of the room. It was a blonde kid, with a Brooklyn accent. He had spent the entire lesson making jokes from the front and getting told off by the teacher... Joey I remembered his name was.
"You guys mind if ______ over here sits with us at lunch?" Ryou asked as they lead me over.
"Sure! It'll be super special awesome!" A small kid said. His hair was spiked up big, pink at the tips with blonde stripes going through it. Strange... (Couldn't help doing a littlekuribo reference there :3) "I'm Yugi!" He held out his hand and I shook it.
"Come on guys hurry up." A guy who looked like Yugi called from over near the door.
"Yami, this is ______. She's gonna be sitting with us at lunch!" Yugi smiled. The other walked over and looked me up and down before giving a smile.
"Sure." He said. He was taller than Yugi, and his face was sterner... Could he be the small kids brother?
"Yeah yeah, it's all very good, can we go get some lunch?" Joey asked. The guy next to him got him into a headlock. He had brown hair bought into one long spike at the front.
"Aww is little Joey hungry?" The brunette mocked. They began arguing.
"That's Tristan." Yugi said, pointing to the brunette. "They're always fighting... Thats Yami, he's... Well he's sort of an ancient spirit that comes from this." He held up an upside down pyramid shaped thing that hung around his neck.
"Same goes with me and Bakura." Ryou said. "That's why we look so similar..." He chuckled slightly.
"Yeah sorry about him, he's so grumpy. He doesn't really get alone well with our group so..." T`ea said, smiling awkwardly.
"But what does he have against me...?" I asked.
"Well he has something against the world. We just tend to try and avoid him when we can. He's a lot better than when we first met him though." Yugi said.
We headed off for lunch to a noodle bar not too far away, and sat down to eat.
"So ______, where you from?" Joey asked, shovelling food into his mouth.
"______..." I replied.
"Wow! That's far! How come you're here now then?" Tristan asked.
"Well... I've always moved around schools a lot anyway... And last year my... Dad died so..." I replied, poking at the noodles with my chopstix.
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that..." Ryou said.
"Not your fault... My mum died when I was younger, and I've been moving around with my dad a lot since then. His job took him all over the world... Last place we were in was Egypt." I said.
They all looked at me strangely.
"What?" I asked, looking at them.
"Egypt huh?" Yami asked.
"Yeah, but his company was supposed to be sending him here next... He had cancer so. We knew it wouldn't be long before... And then it happened and the CEO, being a close family friend, told me he could pay for me to stay here. He's always been like a second dad to me anyway so..." I finished the story and looked around at everyone. "Anyway, it seems like a lot of you guys are from random places as well?" I said, changing the subject.
They all began talking about where they're from and we got into different conversations about different things. Turned out that these guys loved games, like me. That was something at least. And they all seemed like nice people. Bonus... Other than Bakura. Ryou was lovely and kind, but I still had no clue what Bakura's problem with me was. Yami didn't act that was towards me even though he was Yugi's... Counterpart I guess would be the correct term? Or spirit...
But something was different about Bakura. I decided not to let it get to me, besides I'd had worse from bullies before. I wasn't going to let him get to me.
