Apple Bloom fell victim to an attack from the infected, but Apple Jack has no time to show weakness. instead, she must stay strong, as she is the caretaker of the Sweet Apple Acres - the only source of provision for the quarantined Ponyville. coping with the hole in her heart left by the incident with Apple Bloom, fear, and the overhanging responsibility, she became paranoid. Apple Jack also believes religion will save her fellow ponies

Pinkie Pie does her part fighting off the virus side by side with Apple Jack, as the farmer pony trusted Pinkie with the position of the chef. Pinkie is making dishes out of apples to feed the entire Ponyville. sometimes not out of apples

Maud was unlucky enough to come to Ponyville just a few days before the breakout. having wished to visit her sister, she got trapped in the middle of the town, as the quarantine limitations don't allow anypony to leave or enter Ponyville. thanks to her notable physical abilities, she was also of use - her sister cooks for Applejack, while Maud protects them, the farm and also delivers said food.
the consequences of the epidemic affected just the Ponyville inhabitants. being infected, princess Celestia could no longer control the Sun, which means Equestria has to face eternal night.
