So, here's a little bit of an interactive for ya.

Let's try to do a funny little collective military lore in entourage of approx. 1913-1914.
If you wanna try, just suggest in a comments:

What I do is drawing by a pic by the best suggestion and put a little bit of additional info. You might suggest this one too if you want. Maybe it will be fun.

"Strongest military in the world" ensured Equestian hegemony for a long period of time. However, decaying of Empire also reflected on the army: lowering of soldier's income led to multiple episodes of corruption and theft of goverment's property. Following fall of prestige of military service became a starting point for discipline declinig and even marginalasing of staff. Voluntary service became a good opportunity for some ponies to avoid justice or to escape creditors. Great numbers of military equipment, including small arms and even aritllery was illegaly sold and soon was appearing in hoofs of bandits or some colonial rebels.

Equestrian infantry units are allowed only for earth-ponies to join, due to military's race policy. Even though equipment of this units is quite modern, some of the old-fashioned tactics are still used, such as linear formation and single-shot loading.
