Description
The E2 was a class of tank engines built by the London, Brighton & south coast railway. Due to their small coal bunkers, they were unfit for long distance travel and were used for only for shunting. The first series had an small side tanks and limited water capacity. As a result the second series had extended side tanks, however, they still could not go long distances. The third series remedied most of these problems by being more fuel efficient, Thus allowing them to be able to pull Rolling stock. this however did could save the E2, and they were withdrawn from service. in 1961. only 1 E2 was reported to have been preserved, and currently works on the North Western Railway.
