A less devastated France and Habsburg Austria managed to dominate continental Europe. While Spanish America faces a more gradual fall, leading to a more stable Latin American. The young United States is unable to purchase Louisiana, and faces a much harder journey West. While in the far east, the Qing manage to reform enough to better rebuff foreign powers and stay relatively stable. In the early 20th century a Great War occurs between a Russo-Prussian alliance versus just about everyone else, the former being defeated. The modern world is balanced between an American dominated North America, the European Community headed by France, the Ottoman Federation, and the gigantic Russian Republic. There are also a number of smaller powers making strides, such as China, India and Argentina.
