Yup. Technically SIR stands for Standard Information Retrieval unit. Gir was made from random parts of trashed SIR units so his processor a bit messed up. That's why he calls himself Gir, although no one knows what the G stands for.

LOL! I knew he was formed from random pieces! I saw one clip on YouTube where he's like "Gir reporting for duty!" and Zim was like "What's the G stand for?" and Gir said "I....do not.....know!" Maybe the G stands for Garbage since he was made out of trashed pieces!
