Markovtsy was the name of the military units of the Volunteer Army, who received the patronage of one of the founders of the White Movement in southern Russia of the General Staff of Lieutenant General Sergei Markov.

The colours of their uniforms were black and white. Black colour meant mourning for the death of Russia, and white - the hope of its resurrection. As a battle banner, they used a black flag with a white St. Andrew’s cross.
