First of all, the species name is being changed to Rooks! They will be referred to as Rooks for the rest of the journal to get you all used to it. The reason for this change will be explained in a bit!
Current Rook owners, don't worry! There may be some minor anatomy changes to Rooks, but nothing huge. If you end up disliking any anatomy changes, you're more than welcome to continue drawing them the old way. I'm primarily reworking the lore.
(I realize there is already a real species of bird called a Rook, but I don't see this being a problem. I have asked a few current Monstrich owners what they think of the name change, and all have given positive feedback.)
For a long time I was adamant about having Rooks be an unintelligent species similar to a semi-domestic animal. I decided they would be secondary species in the species world I've been working on because of this, and I would make a different species to be the

This actually...isn't the new closed species I've been hinting at for a while. xD I started the concept for these guys three years ago but they always looked incredibly stupid so I never really did anything with them. Recently I figured out how to fix them up a bit and...I was so happy with the result that I just had to make them official as soon as I could. This species is very dear to me since I've had it for so long and have spent such a long time trying to perfect them. ;w; What do you guys think? I'm not sure about adoptables yet...but if anyone's interested, I'll seriously consider.
I will do more with them once I finish my to-do list. (Which I've made super great progress on! :'D So close to freedom!)

Monstriches live in a world that is dominated by a species of mine that's currently still in development! This world is defined by islands that float above a thick layer of clouds. The world below the clouds is known to be a dangerous and chaotic place plagued by constant earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, so all of the species of the islands are quite content with never ever going down there. There is actually a story behind why the world below the clouds is so terrible and why there are floating islands, but I'll have to save the story for when the main species of the world is released!
