Oh, I totally will! dA doesn't allow fanart as prints, but I was thinking of setting up a print store on other platforms anyways. I'll drop you a line when I do!

Oh yes, I totally know that feeling! I mean c'mon, she's a perfect character to be painted - beautiful badass lady who commands effin dragons. Could this get any more epic?
This was fully painted in Photoshop

Wow! This is super awesome! I love the dragons in the background.
What's the secret to keeping your background and foreground distinguished?
And how do you make the little strands of hair seem so sharp compared to the rest of the portrait? Is it just lighting?
(Sorry, I have a lot of questions. )

No worries, feel free to shoot those questions
The key to nice looking hair (as well as many things, to be honest) is this contrast btw soft and sharp edges. I paint most of the hair body soft and then just really define some areas in places where it should be defined. Like near focal points or where light hits it. Shadow areas will mostly be low on detail since we can't really see much there due to lack of light. Whereas in the light regions it'll be nice and clear. As for actual technique - I just use different more sharp brushes to add some nice juicy sharp details. Plus, after the whole piece is done I resize to the dimensions I'll be submitting, then sharpen the whole thing and then erase the sharpened details everywhere except where I want them. Really adds a nice finish to the painting.
As for the FG/BG, what exactly do you mean by "distinguished"? There are some steps for this painting, btw. Link is in the description, maybe it'll be somewhat helpful.

And how do you make that effect of shining spots on a line of hair - often it is not a continue line - is that a brush, or you delete parts of the line?

Oh, that one is a brush I think... Yup, definitely a brush. Any dotted brush will do, gives this nice finish to hair that is under strong light source

Ohhh! That makes sense! I'll definitely have to try those techniques out...
And I suppose you answered my question about foreground / background, indirectly with the hair tips.
(I'm not really sure exactly what I meant to say, it was 2 AM.)
I'll definitely check out the link; thanks!

I almost skipped this one cause I thought it was a goddamn photograph, so already this shit is starting to get my approval.
Before I get to the basic technical stuff, I have to say that in my opinion a good fanart has to impress someone who
is not even a fan of the work, or takes a unique spin on it.
However this work is one of pure aesthetic value, like the opposite of works that rely on symbolism.
So what does this work have?
Well it has some fantastic detail, and a good focus of it as well, since some bits in the corners still have the
brush strokes visible, which can be a flaw but in this case it establishes the focal point.
Also I have to say that I love the hair on this character, those little stands bring all the more realism to it.
And the lighting brings a sort of commanding vibe to it, I may not have seen game of thrones but I have
the feeling that this character has some sort of power to her.
So again a good fanart is one even a non-fan can enjoy, so this goes in the approval box.

Oh god, I am so blown away by such amazing feedback Thank you kindly for taking time to write such a detailed and lovely review. I don't even know what to say except that this is one of the highest praises an artist can get. I am very happy that despite the fact you haven't seen the show/read the books you liked the piece. And oh yes, this badass lady does have a lot of power. I mean commanding friggin dragons, can you get any tougher than that?
Thank you again and have a wonderful day!

Dany is impossible not to love, though she does behave silly sometimes. But damn, overall badassness covers that all
