Cacan are mostly native to the sprawling badlands of She'yanna, and have not spread so far due to their own specialization and the proxy wars of large kingdoms which they, gnolls, orcs and others are wrapped up in- Precious metals are involved. They found their niche by finding ways up the canyons and gliding, using thermal currents and strong wings to fly very far at low altitudes, evading predators as well as raiders and being very effective nomads. More recently, they have also gotten into clockworks. They see much violence, but beautiful gold keeps them here.
Intelligence is relative, and they are not special in this regard.

They are far smaller than humans, averaging two and a half feet, with hollow bones and a very light body meant for flight. They have a keel with muscles that enable them to effectively flap their arms, and wings.
Depending on race, such as badlands or caverns variety, they can have heavy, elaborate plumage or stretched leather frames with which to glide very efficiently.
Their feet, and hands, are remarkably similar to normal humans albeit smaller. Their legs are built for sprinting, the upper body kept light for flight.
Their heads are rounded and muzzled. They possess four ears, not attuned for finding predator nor prey, but to communicating with each-other. Their eyes are fairly large, meant to see predators. Their olfactory senses are weak.
Their diets normally consist of fruits and bugs- They are omnivores, like many.
They have slightly more complicated vocal chords than humans.

Thin, loose airy fabric is preferred for the hot badlands. Gold and silver jewelry, as well as expensive dyes, serve to denote status. Rank is done with pragmatic faction colors dyed into their clothes.
