Description "Omega, your assistance is required. Come now."

The sound of the Pack Healer's voice caused Gerard to look up from where he sat, gnawing at the bones of a doe. His triangular ears flicked forwards and he tipped his head to one side. Must be serious if the Healer needed his help. Licking his chops the lupine pulled himself to his paws, padding towards the den where the Healer had vanished. As soon as he made his way inside, his crimson gaze fell towards the crumpled body of Art. Beneath his breast-bone his heart skipped a beat, nerves chewing at him. He gulped down his doubts and then looked to the Healer. "How can I assist?" he asked, keeping his tone low and respectful.

"The pup has been starting to stir. You must keep him calm when he wakes so that he doesn't screw up the proceedure. Understood, Omega?"

Gerard nodded and did as he was told. He had no real choice. The Healer- even more than the Alpha at times- was to be obeyed.

The pup blinked open green eyes dull with pain and Gerard lay down, lowering his head to the level of those green eyes. The pup smiled slightly. "Did I do it?" he asked in a croaky voice, "did I prove I was brave enough to be Pack?" The dull eyes glimmered with faint hope. Before Gerard could form an answer though, the pup cringed. There was a crunching sound as Healer adjusted the snapped bones. Whimpering with pain, the golden furred pup ground his fangs together. Gerard leaned forwards, touching his nose to the pup's forehead without a second thought and willed him to calm. The pup inhaled shakily, trying to obey the silent command. Then, when Healer twisted his leg again, pain caused his head to fall; conscienceness lost.

Gerard stayed curled up beside the pup for the night. Even when Healer departed to go to sleep, the half-demon remained laying beside the pup, keeping a constant eye on him. He drifted in and out of a shallow sleep, but for the most part remained on red alert. Around dawn, Healer slipped from the depths of the den. Upon spotting the male still laying beside the patient, Healer smiled. "Omega, so and fetch yourself a good hunk of meat. Anyone questions you, tell them I've given you permission to take best pick." Gerard heaved himself to his paws, glancing nervously up at Healer. His ears dropped back and he turned a reluctant glance towards the pup. "He'll survive ten minutes without you. Go. That's an order."

Unable to argue against a direct order, Gerard bobbed his head in a nod and exited the den.

When he returned a short while later, he was met with a shocking sight. His arch enemy- Sun Ray- was looming over the injured pup who had done his best to sit up, but was still a bit slumped. Instead of interupting, Gerard watched, not sure what to make of the scene.

"Are you a complete idiot?!" snarled Sun Ray towards the pup, "I told you, you weren't strong enough to make it to the top of that boulder pile. I told you not to go there and you disobeyed me. And now you've hurt yourself badly. You aren't worthy of being my brother, let alone Pack."

Tears fell from the pup's green eyes as he gazed up at the male- Gerard's arch enemy and his brother. How had Gerard been able to miss such an obvious family resemblance? He wasn't left to wonder long before the pup's pained voice dragged him from his thoughts. "B-but I just wanted to be brave. Like you," he whimpered. Sun Ray took a threatening step forwards, lips curling back to reveal sharp fangs.

Without even realizing he had started moving, Gerard had pressed himself between the two and was glowering up at Sun Ray. "You will not touch him," he snarled, ears perking forwards in a stubborn defiance he'd never used since the day their rankings had been given. "He's only a pup. How dare you use that tone with him?"

The golden furred male took a step back, evidently not having expected his advance to be met with the half-demon of the pack wriggling in front of him. His ears flicked back and his expression became one of outrage. "You dare to defy me?! I am to-be Beta!"

"I don't care what you are. Pups are not to be touched. Lay a paw on him and Pack Law says I have every right to kill you," Gerard snarled.

Knowing he was beat, but too full of pride too admit it, Sun Ray's look became one of disdain. He huffed. "Fine. Whatever, cur." With that, he turned on his heel and strutted off, growling under his breath as he went.

Only when he was gone did Gerard turn to offer the pup a smile. "Nice to see you up, kid. My name is Gerard," he stated, not catching the gleam of awe in the pup's eyes.

"I- I'm Art..."

And thus we have the beginning of an eternity-long friendship xD

Oh, yeah, this also has some computer editing that was uber fun to do. I'll probably be using it with more traditional art in the furture, and by probably I mean will.
