For those who don't know this Mexican Telenovela: Marimar is a Mexican Telenovela about a rags to riches girl that seeks revenge against the family of her husband for her arrest and the murders of her grandparents.

About Sweeney Todd: Set in Victorian London, a barber named Sweeney Todd returns from exile in Australia to avenge himself and his family by murdering the corrupt judge and the men of the city before his accomplice turns the bodies into meat pies.

How I would make it work: As Belle Aldama, Marimar hunts down her fugitive father-in-law and sister-in-law with the aide of her husband Sergio, now known as Nigel Hyde. But along the way, a series of murders simultaneously impact the city of Bristol. (Fun fact: Johnny Depp's portrayal of Sweeney Todd is the inspiration for the personality of Sergio's alter-ego Nigel Hyde)
