Description
Passionate speeches of the past can be found in their full sardonic glory here and here .
(So we can avoid my rudeness in the future.)
S1. I receive a note: "I want to photograph you. Will you model for me?" I click on the icon and view his gallery. After viewing, I knock over my chair and run out of the room screaming.
It is a fact I am the subject matter in most of my photographs. Photography is the passion here, not modelling. Generally speaking, perhaps these men deduce as I am a young girl, I must enjoy prancing around mirrors in make-up and costume, distributing self-indulgent, airbrushed close-ups of myself over the internet for fun. I also fail to see the 'fun'.
Just because I have turned down every photography enthusiast so far does not mean I will turn down every photographer who crosses my path. I would love the opportunity to work with you if you are dead set professional or passionate about your art and haven't just simply found an excuse to meet naked chicks, if you are female (because we need more female photographers out there), or if you are willing to model for me in return.
Along the same vein, my photographs are certainly not self-portraits unless stated so. So don't fret when you see a new deviation of me huddled together looking oh so insecure and lonely. I appreciate the "dun b lonli, ur pretti" emails but I assure you, they are not necessary. Thank you nonetheless.
S2. I receive a comment from a new visitor: "Blah blah *something irrelevant* meh meh... visit my page and comment on my hot, hot male nudes of myself and my penis. But NO MALES cause that's just gross. The whole point why I take them is for the ladies."
*Throws an anti-homophobe bomb in his direction and ducks under my gallery*. I'm sorry I had to share that with the rest of you still alive here. The actual comments were viler and teenage boys like that disgusts me. On the topic of male nudes, it's an area I have always wanted to pursue. (A dream for after uni is to travel around the world and build a collection of them purely from the interesting people I meet.) Very, very few do it well. This is certainly not the entire list, but some examples are ~adixion , ~Renoux and *flowingthought , and I am always on the look out for more.
S3. A long-time visitor sends me an email, a note or finds me on MSN and gives me a lesson on life.
A lot of people who approach me about such a thing and additionally in the first scenario's case tend to be significantly older than me. I think we are still sometimes on the same boat, all practising photography for no longer than a year or two. A lot of the people who vigorously insist on monitoring and critiquing my photography have very little talent themselves and those who bombard me with their life-learnt lessons have their lives in shambles. (Yet the truly magnificent photographers are always so modest about their incredible technique.) So I know this may be incredibly difficult for some of you to grasp but really, your input means very little to me. I don't care if I receive 3000 comments or 3 comments, so please don't think you are doing me a favour by flaunting your ignorant, condescending 2 cents around. By the way, I was an art student for six years and I know 90% of what we say is bullshit and the other 10% is incomprehensible at best. Just because you use words like "negative space" and "thirds rule" doesn't change my opinion of you nor your comment.
S4. An old watcher of mine reads my characteristically very long deviantID descriptions and starts to find some of the material eerily familiar to what he/she has said/done.
Slim chance. The above scenarios are unfortunate cases where it had particularly bothered me at some point, but they are not intended to slyly berate those who might stumble in here. Hopefully there will not be misunderstandings where newer visitors who don't know why their friendly offer to shoot me, while improving their photography skills, have been rejected so coldly by me, and on the other hand, I think this complete stranger is just some horny guy who thinks I should be bowing to his request to pose prettily. All those bad experiences occurred with people I completely disconnected contact with afterwards. And anyone who would read this entire thing cannot be half bad!
