that's amazing. When I clicked on it, I thought it was clay!

Amazing work you do. I thought Zbrush was a little tricky, buy you certainly have it down. Question, did you already have the wiring done and then transferred it to Zbrush...or...? Sorry, I'm a bit new to 3D!

Intervain In reply to loudchai [2009-01-07 09:53:03 +0000 UTC]

Hi! thank you Yes I first modeled a base mesh in XSI. The only thing done entirely in Zbrush is the tree stump he's sitting on [that's z-spheres]

Good stuff I've gotta get learning zbrush I think. It'd come in handy for scaling things up and machining them out

Zweihander400 In reply to ??? [2008-11-10 12:55:27 +0000 UTC]

very nice! i like the details and the lighting dude!

i heard that xsi can handle millions of polygons, is it true?

i was wondering about that, so i could have alternatives aside from using displacement map in maya.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Intervain In reply to Zweihander400 [2008-11-10 15:18:23 +0000 UTC]

yes it handles a lot quite well Usually I'd just import high-res meshes and render them. With this one everything except for the body could be relatively easily rendered at high res but the body at 5 levels with SSS and FG and all was a bit too much for my machine hehe... so I used level 3 with normal map and some details got lost... but still importing it was no biggie and the viewport handles it easily... just complex rendering would probably require a stronger system than I have XSI would handle it though!

i wish i could get a trial copy and try it out! i heard that rigging it is quite easy.

Great work everything looks very natural.

It would be cool to show some skin stretching/deformations near tension areas (where hand meets face, elbow meets thigh)

Intervain In reply to balrogg [2008-11-10 11:39:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot! There's folds and such on the face and neck where it meets the hand [just on the side so you can see it on the turntable better...same goes for the elbow and thigh ]
