So at my high school they participate in the state VASE art program thingy and the art teacher there recommended me to sign up. Ive had a few ideas and came up with a main one but i feel it needs more improvement or i could do something better. (Terrible photo example below)

This is my idea. Basically its a girl hugging her own reflection. In her world its all black and white but when she looks at her reflection everything looks better there. Its all colored there. (basically like how the mirror makes you look nicer than the camera sometimes) She would rather be her reflection (who she wants to be) than herself and escape to her reflection's world

But yeah e-e I did some research and most of the art that won over past competitions or was submitted was higher quality and a bit abstract… This and I've haven't had high school art yet…

Im not sure what mediums to use since I'm equally not so skilled in all of them XD

Any advice to make this better? Or Mediums to use? Helpful tutorials?

;-; I have more ideas but i really need to catch a meaningful one.
