Frantic heartbeats. The sound of running feet, delicately tracing the path he could only smell and taste. Never touch, no, he never could touch. He saw short hair fluttering in the wind, a red dress, and smelt vanilla. He could taste a foreign thing, and felt hands run across his skin. But then he saw the red eyes. And heard his laughter.

Link woke up panting, bright blue eyes wide and pretty mouth in an ‘oh’. He ran one hand through his sandy blond hair, the other resting on his toned chest. The dreams had been coming on and off for months and he had no idea what they meant. Well, he knew what the eyes and the laughter meant. That meant that he was back. But what about the other person? He sighed and glanced out his window. Still night. Well, no one else would be up at this hour. Thought Link, getting out of bed and stretching out. And since I can’t sleep, might as well go outside.  Maybe someone will need my help out there, if they’re up at this hour they probably do. Link slipped on a thin robe and stepped out into the night air.

Something was stirring; he could sense it as soon as the wind hit his face. Magic was in the air. He felt a gust of wind blow all of his hair into his face. Then saw a blinding light. Perhaps I should have stayed inside…damn old men and firecrackers. Then he saw a portal appear. The most beautiful portal he had ever seen. It looked like a captured sunset, with the perfect hues of crimson and magenta and blue. Then a scream escaped it.

What the? Link barely had time to think as two females went soaring out of the portal and landed on top of him. One with dark hair sprang up. The other lay sprawled across his chest. The dark haired one shook her self off and yelled “AH-HA!”

Her companion groaned and tried to move, and Link found himself gazing up into the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. Brown rivers seemed to dance against a green background, and they sparkled even though there was no moon. Link blushed furiously.  “Hello.” He managed to say. Before the lovely girl could respond, he was dragged to his feet.

“Finally we found Link! After accidentally killing that old dude.” The hazel eyed girl glared.  “What? He had a sword.”

Link glanced from one to the other. The dark haired girl was dressed in warrior clothes, with medium length hair and brown eyes. Her companion had dual-coloured hair, one side blond and one side black. The dark haired girl took out a gigantic sword.

“And now- we duel!”
