Description
Working overtime can be murder...What happens when you let your work get on top of you?
Meet John Stark, put-upon junior executive at M.T.S. Pharmaceuticals. Working to meet his budget deadlines late into the night, his paperwork literally takes on a life of its own, as, tired of being subjugated and confined to filing cabinet prisons, it rebels against its master.
Now, John must fight to stay alive, in a decidedly hostile working environment.

I absolutely loved the part where he used the staplers as guns, and when they got jammed. Ahaha.
Nicely done!

Now this is pretty dang good! Everything is well put together. Even though it's just a film, I liked how the character held himself together, like how he used the Stapler, the Scissors, but I liked the ending part the most. Brilliant!

Super good! I thought it was a bit creepy with the paper monster and all. I won't be planning on staying in to work after dark.

Haha, I'm surprised only one person noticed it XD It's Frogcake, a bit of an in-joke that appeared in 8 of the films for our degree show.

Very cool. I love the intro and outtro shots with the building. The blinding red and blue light really set the mood. And great music.

Great film! The part where the paper comes out of the filing cabinet was scary.
The only thing I found a little irritating was the music, I felt that it was a little repetitive and didn't contribute much to the atmosphere towards the middle and end, especially when the monster comes out of the elevator (didn't feel fear then!)
Other than that really superb work

Cheers! I made the film using Autodesk Maya 8.5. It took about 3 months to do the pre-production work, and about another 3 months to model, rig, light and animate it all, with around 4 weeks for rendering and editing.

Wow! This must have taken forever to put together! Wonderfully smooth animation and a great concept and story! I really hate paperwork so this fits nicely into the horror genre for me! LOL! I'd like to see this at the Animation Festival at SIGGRPAH! Excellent piece and congratulations on the DD!

Hehe, yeah, the concept formed after a particularly hellish summer working my office job a few years back. And yeah, Siggraph would be nice, if somewhat unlikely XD

MythArcana In reply to InvertNormals [2009-06-23 09:55:40 +0000 UTC]
I don't know why SIGGRAPH would be unlikely! I went a couple years ago and some of the animations they had were...um...hard to understand!

wow this was really incredible, you've done a really great job, your characters move really well, it was extremely well directed, the lighting and camera angles portrayed the story perfectly and i especially loved the pieces of paper they took on a mischievous and malevolent feel. Being hit by the staplers was genius and i loved the way they moved when they hit the wall. the scene was well established, the cityscape was great, there was barely any slide when the main character was running down the hall and the reveal of the giant paper and stationary monster was really effective and scary. i honestly thought 'run man run!!!'. I'm half way through the second year of my animation course so i know exactly what you went through to make this and i am well, well impressed. Quick question: did you use maya to make this?

InvertNormals In reply to Seraph5 [2009-06-23 09:30:42 +0000 UTC]
Hehe, thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I produced the film using Maya 8.5, and composited it using After effects. It was a long slog XD

Seraph5 In reply to InvertNormals [2009-06-23 13:54:27 +0000 UTC]
nice and yeah i can imagine. i thought it looked like maya and after effects gave a nice final touch. No problem, it's all true i wish you lots of luck in finding a job in the future i'm sure you'll do just fine.
