Description In 1690′s time the concept of magic was absurd to the public, save for those that specialized in herbal medicines or motives to heal others. There was a young man that had ambition to learn stronger magic, and often at the costs of tragedy in the area, usually unknown to him. Vanth, picked up alchemist level books and arcane ones from a young age when he took interest and realized he had a knack for it. Gaining power as well as riches for healing sick or turning things from rocks into gems.

This would soon become a deadly habit of his, as he grew into his later twenties, he had met a love interest Vera. Coming to love her quickly, and spending more time around her, it wasn’t for an illness that started to eat away at her, and wouldn’t claim her life until after their marriage.

Spiraling into madness from this loss, Vanth delves into his books, and learns of a ritual that could bring his lost love back to life, without hesitation it is performed. What Vanth didn’t know was the magic requires a grand sacrifice of importance, something that would equal up to the life.

This hidden price claimed his morality, mortality, and his love itself. A sick and twisted feat to rob him of what he was so desperate. After the resurrection, it soon ended as quick as it came, for the body could not support the soul, and the soul eroded it as quick. Thus Vanth rewatching the death of his beloved again. Adding more to his growing madness, and after the failed ritual did it start a new tragedy among Salem.

In death it gave birth to something more terrifying than what it once took, the broken man now enslaving the dead as his puppets for an army. Creating something far worse, a parasite that drifts from realm to realm. That will cause mayhem wherever he roams.

What he did not know until later was that his own body would start to rot away, slowly. Once he had seen the starts of it, instead of embracing death, he tried defying it with the same ritual, but for himself.

Vanth wasn’t an idiot through this ritual the second round, he moved his locations and found what would work is a catalyst. Something he didn’t have before, the catalyst was something from the underworld, he led the purges of young women calling certain ones witches to be burned. Vanth fed into the fears of the people and bought the faith of Christianity and pulled the strings behind them to mark ones for the ritual he was about to do.

It wasn’t until Vanth took the life of a star spirit and awoken her that he gained an enemy. The catalyst he needed, and he saw that this being had something to lose. A love, it was perfect, if death could love but he could not, then he would take something from death.

The methods he took to find out what it was that death cherished was grueling, let alone her identity. He found something that abhorred natural and summoned it. The ritual was set, and he would work day and night to lure her out now even against what the demon he summoned’s wishes.

At the crest and heart of the city was where he held still, till she approached, driven to a reckless state in concern. Once she had touched the ground the ritual was started, and he had slain this demon, this love interest of hers.

The souls he used were added into his life and it changed him from a necromancer to a lich. Vanth was unaware of what he had done to set in motion a chain of events. The reaper was chosen by the stars, just like one of the girls he had slain in his “purges.” but the reaper’s awakening was explosive at seeing the being she had loved die before her eyes.

In a twist she had broken underworld laws and acted of her own accord. Laying waste to the land and plunging it underground into a desolate space in the border between Paradise and Purgatory. She had named it Agitazione, and it with Vanth was suppose to stay there, but Vanth was already exempted through his ritual and simply moved dimensions.

The reaper left a crater in the place of where the city once stood, and collected the lifeless body of her lover. A second time she broke the laws, and begged Chronos to bring him back.  He did, but at a specific cost, she paid her price. He would be brought back to life, but he would never remember who or what she is to him. She would never have existed to him, and if she were to tell him. He would die and she would be stripped of her powers and plunged into Tartarus with him.

Chronos did smile on her misfortune and gave her new abilities to use as a kind reminder that she owes him as a way to chase after Vanth through different dimensions. She would need that ability, for this is her mistake and the underworld is hers to guard.

The creature that is Vanth, would be her responsibility for allowing him to get away from her. In several hundred years is when he would surface again, to redo that ritual. She would be waiting for that day. All she waits for is when the dead are walking.
