Description
So, I finally got a chance to try Procreate. I don't feel it's quite the complete toolset that Clip Studio Paint or Photoshop is, but it makes good use of the limited amount of controls and space available in a tablet environment. I particularly enjoy the liquify tool (the one thing I miss in Clip Studio), which also feels a lot more responsive than its Photoshop equivalent. It's impressive how smooth the entire experience is, even on the budget ipad. I hadn't intended to make my own brushes, but I guess I just can't help myself.
As always,
You MAY freely use and modify these brushes and use them for personal and professional work alike.
You MAY share brushes you've made using my brushes as a base, as long as you share them for free and direct people back to this original post.
You MAY NOT sell these brushes or any derivatives of them.
I do have a ko-fi page.
As much as I love coffee (and art supplies), please only donate if you can afford to do so. I know times are hard for a lot of us, and if you can't donate I don't want you to worry about it. A kind comment also goes a long way in making someone feel appreciated =]
The brushes come in a zip file. You need to unzip it to get a .brushset file which, when opened up in Procreate, contains the set of brushes.
Some quick info on the brushes:
•The first of the brushes is just one of the default brushes (6B), but with the max size setting turned all the way up.
•Skee is what I use the most. It's a nice all-rounder. [The WIP featured in the preview image is made almost entirely painting with Skee and smudging with Digi Paint, with a little glow thrown in with Soft Round.]
•The only difference between the two 'Cel' brushes is that one of them has the 'StreamLine' slider turned on. I don't like having it on unless I want clean lines for lineart, so I made it into a separate brush. (It was mainly the lack of a nice, sharp inking brush that lead to me making my own brushes.)
•Digi Paint and Soft Round are nice smudgers, at least I like using them for that. Depends on what you're painting, of course.
•Simple Stars is the only brush that doesn't use a default Procreate stamp for the shape.
•Simple Round is literally just an unvarying line. It's what I use when I want to make a quick shape.
If you're looking for good brushes and want more options, I like Gabrielle's set of Procreate brushes. I especially like the Willow Charcoal brush in her set. (Also, her Soft Brush is just that little bit sweeter than mine.)
The Flora set by MattyB also looks good, though I haven't had a chance to play with it myself yet.
That's pretty much all I have to say on this occasion. Until next time!
